Thanks again Bill and Geoff for the work you do.

A mini British Invasion. What state were you in ? I don't mean drunk or sober I mean like New York or New Jersey. Both apparently newer versions of British areas.

I was in the original old York, does that count?

Remind me never to drive anywhere on a Friday, took nearly 8 hours to drive up, but not much over 4 hours back on the Sunday.

Google said I could have cycled it in a day!

I sat at the lights in York on Saturday, and a MAMIL in fancy Orica livery did the most impressive track stand. The lights were red for ages, and left me wondering how he would unclip fast enough if he lost his balance!

My wife and I showed our 18 year old daughter around York University, where we first got together 34 years ago! Got really nostalgic and then a bit depressed to be quite so old.

As they say, Nostalgia is not what it used to be!

Hope to be there tonight, and hopefully with a pair of BePro pedals ( power meter ) to compare this time.
If your handicap weight is higher than your normal weight expect the bkool power to be higher than the pedals.

My handicap weight is slightly lower than my registered weight  and the bkool readings can be 30-50 watts lower than my pedals. Pedals 200-220, bkool 150-170.

In normal use, @ my normal registered weight, I'm getting a 15-30+ watt difference between my pedals and bkool (bkool higher).

I do like York being a Yorkshire Fella. It is a Jekyll and Hyde city though. Lovely during the day but turns a bit rough at night. Shame really because it has a real chance to be one of those cosmopolitan cities being so pedestrian orientated. Far too many drunks and loutish behaviour for me and the wife.

That sounds strange. Your weight shouldn't affect power. Must be something wrong with the bkool algorithm.

I agree. But that is what I see on my setup .

I noticed it on the first few weight handicap stages. I'd set off trying to generate my normal bkool power levels and be absolutely knackered after 2 or 3 minutes and initially couldn't work out why. I then looked at my garmin for the vector power levels and I was putting out 280+ watts, about 80-100 more than I normally would. Things settled down a bit, once I was using the garmin to gauge my efforts :bicycle:. At about 200-220 watts on the garmin is about 160-170 on bkool.

Must be something wrong with the bkool algorithm.
No doubt this is news to everybody

Are we going to run the handicap race today? I've mostly been dorking around in zwift lately, but obviously can hop over bkool if we're racing this afternoon/evening.

Hopefully will be able to get through the cobwebs to my bike to find what the evil mastermind has in store for us.

Tonight's Handicap Chase is a special Handicap Climb with adjusted rider weights to equalize Watts/Kg

Session is password protected, password is chase (type h twice if help screen appears)

Course is Cheddar Gorge Climb

I will start the warm-up close to 8:00pm BST (UTC+1) to ensure the race starts around 8:10pm BST (UTC+1).

Everyone taking part should adjust their weight to the allocated value before entering the warm up, preferably with at least 5 minutes to go.

Weights are generally reduced, in some cases considerably, to achieve the target Watts/Kg, so speeds should be higher than usual. The main part of the session should not take more than around 20 minutes, and in any case less than 30 minutes, to avoid changing Fitness Levels. Anyone taking longer than 30 minutes would be advised to discard their session without saving.

The Start (for everyone) should be between 8:05 and 8:10, when the warm-up ends.

Once underway, there is a short neutralized zone (0.15 miles or 0.24 km) to avoid taking advantage of the lowered resistance at start, where no-one is allowed to overtake @JLaw (or if he is not present, you must gradually increase speed to a maximum of 20 mph (32 kph) until you pass the 0.15 (0.24 km) point.

If anyone else wants to take part, please can you let us know here and we can work out a weight Handicap from your FTP power value or similar.

You know me Geoff, not one to moan or look for excuses before the race has happened but haven't touched my bike for some time so doubt I will reach those heady heights of power I was previously putting out
