Does anyone fancy doing a little but of data collecting. Its to see what speed difference on the flat between a kickr and Bkool pro. So my tear would be for a couple of you guys have a small velodrome session. Do a couple or 3 laps at 200watts, then again 250w, 300w, 350w and 400w. You can start with 400 if you want. I am looking for constant power runs or near as possible. Don't draft other riders, ideally do a solo velodrome session for most accurate numbers. I will then do the same to see if there is a noticeable difference. Power to weight shouldn't have an affect on the flat. But would be interesting to see if someone alters weight by 10kg and does another run

pointless me trying ! watts are all over the place at the minute and i can't make head nor tail out of them ! plus you stand more chance of seeing me in a tutu than getting 400 watts from me

Not an affliction, more an oddity, but when I was young my Dad already had a full set of false teeth and I was jealous because I assumed he didn't need to go to the Dentist and just needed to plonk his teeth in a cup at night to clean them and them stuff them back in next morning.
At the age of 57 I am just about to loose my last milk tooth and of course there is nothing behind it so my first dental gap, top row two from the centre (a fang) is going to be down to a blimming milk tooth!
Good news is, if I could afford it, is that my teeth are too crowded anyway so the loss of that tooth could give me room to have them spread out a bit.
Bad news is that I am a Vampire!
Spooky, but I have the exact same issue with my 'fangs'. I had an op when I was 12 to have my second teeth fangs out as they couldn't push the milk teeth out. I was told not to do any sport (there's a common theme here!) for a few weeks to let my jaw settle. Well, ignored that and played football the day I came out of hospital. Took a ball to the face and dislodged one of my milk teeth. Bugger fell out and i've had the gap ever since. Other side of mouth like you I still have a milk tooth fang. We're milk tooth buddies :hugs:

Sorry about that Rob, It was at mile 2 before I caught you up, then a huge effort just to get 6 seconds lead. You start so fast compared to me

on most of them u about 1:30 to 2 mins up on me

and its 3 seconds not 6 I need those precious seconds I reckon I need to find bout 20 minutes to get on the 1st page

I'll have a go at that over the weekend.
My experience of the velodrome is that you get unusually high speeds for watts but as its a level field (literally) that should be irrelevant.
I would suggest that everyone does it at the same weight regardless to remove as many variables as possible.
Doing it on any empty velodrome is petty important as well as you get plenty of drafting on the planks.
It might not even be a bad idea to pick a gear ratio as well and if you are going to do 400 watts you need to be around 50/12 = 1:4.17 which is close to 52/13 =1:4

I've got titanium plates in my right wrist and shoulder from a snowboarding accident ( the lesson I learnt from that was never to ride slowly) , add that to frankenbiker.

PS: Body enhancements don't count.
However my heart stents are metallic and they certainly enhanced my performance.
I was hoping to get my oversized walnut drilled out but the specialist said there was no need for that yet.
I assume that would generate some weight loss a bit like the good old days of drilling and slotting every bit of expensive aluminium bit on your bike (and then oddly painting the slot (normally red) to add back some weight.
Those were the days but the bike did look beautiful if done well. PS: This was the bike I rode to my first Giro Stage win on back in the late 70's just ahead of Giuseppe Saronni.

The good old days when the answer to every dental problem was to drill or remove.
NHS dentists were paid by the drill and fill so literally every filling in my gob was there before I was 16.
Some have been enlarged and one in particular is now a cap with a filling.
Story was: leaving the Army and have my final dental check. Army Dentist says one of my fillings was a bit old and needed replacing (a later civi dentist said this was rollocks and he probably just wanted some drill time, and not on the parade square).
Said new old filling must have had a void where an infection grew and 8 years later I get a root canal and a cap after several bouts of bad toothache.
Paid extra for the non NHS colour matched cap and 2 years later the infection is back and I end up with a filling in my expensive cap.
Got no gold in my nashers though although your avatar looks like a visage that could do gold in the gob where as it would just make me look pretentious or perhaps a little gay (or is that more gay).

AAAC, your red wine intake suggests you should swap it for water or, my favourite post ride drink, chocolate milk. No hydration problems but just to be on the safe side re your constipation I recommend bran flakes every other day, and homemade brown/spelt bread in the meantime.

To be honest I only drink a bit of wine, 0.75 l over the odd weekend max.
Every now and Christmas I might consume a tad more but as the saying goes I have already cooked my goose so I need to be a little cautious.
I always re-hydrate after training and I eat high fibre cereal daily.
Not tried homemade bread recently though.

Wet in north Hampshire today, so gave the turbo bike a quick once over, pumped the tyres up, jumped on and loaded Bkool. Had no idea what to expect as when I last used it in the spring the collarbone was still recovering and I was struggling to hold 250w and had to dig deep to hold on to Active 1. Updated my weight as I managed to get down to 75kg over the summer. Decided to do 30 minutes on Alpe d'huez, took it steady as I didn't want to be caught out by the firmware changes I read about on here. Managed to hold about 270w which got me to Active 4, but I had more to give and I've always been able to hold a reasonable speed in the velodrome so did 100 laps (33 minutes) @ 310w, which gave me Active 9.

My summer of rides steadily picking up the pace and working hard on the front of the groups seems to have paid off. I am really pleased with Active 9, of course I don't know how much of this is down to dodgy firmware and software updates.

Today,
Soaking wet ride around Rutland water or do stage 9 summer cup. The former won, got tangled up in a half iron man tri with over 1000 competitors. First driving past for miles then caught up in the run. Slow wet day but good fun
heading out that way tomorrow hopefully - as long as it aint as bad as today ! some of the hills in rutland end up in horrible bendy gravel traps - neville holt has been mentioned

Hi - new member of forum here.... getting to grips with Bkool and love it as a training tool.... but I must admit I'm finding it bloody hard work! Obviously working with a turbo is always going to be different with no freewheeling etc but I am not getting anywhere near my normal speed without really overworking and burning out.... for example I have ridden the Vitruvian course on the simulator but can't get anywhere near the average speed that I do on the actual course. Literally about 3mph difference... and when I ride the actual course, as a triathlete I usually run straight 'off the bike' for 5-10km... not a chance after the course on the bkool... my legs are toast. Is there some way to calibrate the unit?
