Thanks for waiting for me at the start Bill - yeah I had a right faff trying to do the password and get into the ride. Sorry for not sticking together for longer.

I think my improved speed on the last couple of rides is down to a recent tyre change - the old one was getting really ragged - I hadn't noticed quite how bad it was! Definitely can feel the benefit

Had that on my very first tyre on the Trainer. The black tread had actually debonded from the canvas at the edges but it was not obvious when the wheel was stopped.

Thanks for the "you've been challenged and beaten" email AAAC! Only 8 seconds though - quite happy with that from you actually ^_^ (assuming you were trying?!)

The Met is very big. They will easily accommodate bikes too, especially if I speak to the Gaffer.
Add,

I really appreciate the invite but if I do make it I'll stay at a hotel. It looks like the rooms at the Metropole are filling up fast on the 27th. There is a handicap room available but I don't think I should book it just because I've participated in a few of the Tuesday races.

My HRM seems to have stopped working with the new software. Anyone got any ideas why that may be? Something to do with pairing no doubt.

@bobinski, that cyclops front wheel riser block arrived today so I used it for the first time in tonight's ride. Really good - much more stable than the standard bkool one and obviously higher, which was loads more comfortable.

Thanks for the recommendation - well worth it :okay:

Good ride though @JLaw, I enjoyed the chase tonight and likewise was well shot at the end.
I think I was able to hold you off for about 3/4 of the race. I was able to briefly pull away at the top of one of those later hills, but not enough to matter in the end. Thankfully nobody was close behind you and I could lay off the gas a little and ensure I would be able to finish.

No worries mate. Are you thinking you might try to come, or is it a bit unrealistic really? It's a long way to come to be very unpleasant to your body!

Maybe the year after you could host an event in Sitka?

I'm going to try. Got the wife's permission and booked a room at the metropole. Now I just need to get in shape and pay off the credit card. The way Breedon got a new bike thrown in on the deal is an inspiration.
Sure in 2018 we could all meet in Sitka and ride the 14 miles of paved roads. Not a double devil but a single imp maybe.
When this whole event was first introduced there was some loose talk about a seafood paella. With this many possibly showing up how big is your pot?
