@smutchin it's obviously really hard to know what's realistic for you as we've never ridden together in real life, but from what you're saying about your cycling and running it does sound like you're not a complete beginner or hugely out of shape, so it does look like something may be wrong as your speed and power were comparatively quite low on that stage.I know I'm out of shape and I expected to be towards the back of the field, but I'm surprised at just how far off the pace I was today. And I shouldn't have been quite so close to throwing up at the end of it either. Something ain't right. I mean, I know I'm capable of more than 1.4w/kg...

I'll try to keep it up though and hopefully I will improve. Despite my poor performance, it was fun.
Tbh, perhaps the problem is that I'm not doing much other riding at the moment. I go out with the club most Sundays but usually with the old duffers who make me look good, so perhaps I need to join the fast group to push myself a bit harder. Apart from that, I do parkrun on Saturdays, but I'm hardly doing anything else during the week, which is why I want to try to get into the habit of using the trainer over winter.
As said above, tyres and tyre pressures do make a difference. As does getting used to the technique of riding the trainer in the sim - it does take a bit of getting used to. However, if I were you I would probably look at my whole setup and maybe try a complete re-install of the Bsim app and re-connect your trainer and see if that makes any difference. There have been glitches with trainers and with interaction with the sim which people here have experienced so it is possible there's something wrong. Also, check you're on the latest software and firmware. It might be that you just need to get fitter and try harder, but it's also possible you're being disadvantaged by some kind of hardware or software problem - the good thing is, you still get the physical benefits of the workout either way!
