Inversion table helps. Personally when I get lower back trouble I go back to full body workout with weights and my issues clear up. Keep moving is the key generally with back problems
Good advice. I have ankolosing spondilitos (probably spelled it wrong) which is essentially arthritis in the spine. Exercise and keeping flexible is better for me than sitting all day (unfortunately I sit all day in my job so not ideal!). Keep moving :okay:

Anyone on here had problems with sciatica? After Tuesday's day in the car i woke up with severe lower back pain. The pain has been running donw through my right leg into the knee and to put it mildly, it a pain on the arse... any treatments welcome.. currently pain killers and beer...

I've got back problems at the moment DP. Lasted about two weeks so far. It's not been diagnosed as sciatica but I think that's what it is. It's becoming a more regular problem as I'm getting older so it's little concerning. Hopefully in your case it's just because you've been in the same position for too long rather than a long term issue.
'They' say generally it's better to keep active rather than allowing it to seize up more. I do I physical job so I'm just trying not to overdo it. For me it starts if I take liberties lifting something up or even lifting myself out of bed sometimes. I've discovered paracetamol with caffeine recently and they're decent, taken in rotation with ibuprofen. Codeine or similar also work for me. I've got stronger pain killers in the cabinet but I'm weary of taking them long term...

Massage is always good. My missus is being a little begrudging in that department to say the least... so I'm going to try and get a professional one next week if it persists.

I remember in the past you tearing muscles in your back (?). Is it possible you push too hard too soon at times, so to speak? You seem to go from spells of complete inactivity to 100% hammer it effort. I might have that wrong. But you might just be asking too much of your body.

My backs never been that good. I had a tenancy of tearing muscles mid way up, bad technique picking up my eldest... and then kept on redamaging it before it got better. Last Sunday was stopping the truck but actually I was quick to ice it and that stopped all the cramps which caused all my previous problems. I'm thinking that the driving and a bad shoulder did something to my lower back.
That had been a problem following a bike accident 20 years ago, learning drop offs from 6 foot up whilst cleated in is not a good idea, especially when on concrete and with keys in the back jersey pocket. Let's just say that i landed directly on the small of my back and couldn't feel my legs for 5 minutes after... so possibly this is coming back to haunt me!

Yeah that makes sense mate. I sometimes wonder if a shoulder I dislocated a long time ago has caused my problems. One part of the body over compensating for weakness in another.

Injury to that whole area of the body is still a bit hit and miss to get correct diagnoses for in my opinion. Maybe that's what makes us lose trust or self diagnose. But it definitely sounds like you should have a consultation with a professional. Whether that's the type I was talking about, or the Type AAAC is implying I was talking about is up to you!

Slowly drifting over.
Once you have a fancy trainer you'll be gone to the Dark Side for ever.
Mixing it up, keeping it real ;) Bkool subscription runs until Feb I think so will still be on Bkool until that runs out. Won't be doing the Winter Cup though this year - Summer Cup and last year's WC were a mess with the updates so can't be bothered wasting my time. Zwift was OK tonight for a long ride - was on there for 2 hrs 40 mins and didn't really notice the time. Still getting used to the racing on there but actually that could be good too if you pick the right race. I need to lose weight and get some time and miles in my legs and Zwift is probably better for that.

Re; a new trainer - really keen on the Atom if Tommy and others report back positively :okay:

Check your driving position.
Too many of us lean our seats back and not only does this increase pressure where you don't want it you also end up doing virtual sit ups to reach controls etc.

They have actually made quite a difference at least in the short term.

Yep - turned off my auto renewal too :okay: The Elite trainer fiasco was the last straw for me. Not that the guys won, or were faster, but that Bkool were advised of the issue and just couldn't be bothered to fix the excessive speed or update their leagues. It really does just show what they think of their customers.

I still like Bkool and the choice of courses are better than the limited number on Zwift, but Zwift is definitely improving even since I last went on in May. Oh well, it was good whilst it lasted ^_^

If we all go to the Dark Side they will have loads of dosh to make it better still.
If this group gets much smaller I will be off too but still running a Pro untill I run out of spares to keep mine going.
That will no doubt annoy a few but I have a thick...............................................................skin.
My subs are up in Fed too.

Perhaps we can set up a league in Feb with one stage that is 500m long and is called 'Gone to Zwift, - bye!'
