If we can get at least 15 riders next week, we could go for a Team Time Trial?

Perhaps something like...

Team Beige - Steve, Bert, Jim, Whorty, Del, Rob (if others with Start Times below 4:00 show up we could possibly make one more team)

Team (Not) Red - Adam, Andy, Per, Baldy, Aleman, Lars, JJ, Keith (depending on how many are confirmed starters)

Team Blue - Peter, Bill, Bridgy, AAAC and Tommy (and perhaps Daddy Pig)?

If a few more show up then four teams are possible, can we get an indication of who's a likely no-show and who's a likely show, then we can firm up over the weekend.

Cheers,

Geoff
that sounds like a real hoot, but I'm afraid I can't make it next Tuesday.

Carl the reason you find it more awkward to draft is that the power reading is very quick to react to the force you apply. That's why the power and speed profile is sawtooth. The Bkool smoothes the speed profile and calculated power is smooth. Overshoot happens because you get dropped quickly, up the power then fly by. A few times of that and boom, dropped.

Thanks Geoff, definitely up for that - sounds great! Also good practice for the Nations Cup Team Time Trial....

TTT rules for the NC will be:
- 5 man teams, and time is taken for the 4th man across the line
- If s rider starts early by accident, he must stop immediately in from of the start and wait there until his team starts at the right time
- If a team catches another team, the slower team must let them overtake and must not draft on the overtaking team. (unless the last kilometer of the race)
- There is a penalty of 1 second per second a team drafts another team
- The slower team must not try to overtake again for 1 kilometer

The course being used for the TTT in the NC is http://www.bkool.com/profile/detail/2534193.

Yes, much harder. As you got to me I increased power so you wouldn't shoot straight past but this left me in front still. When I dropped power you would come past me. I would increase (clearly too much) and then shoot past you.

I think the problem is on the Pro a 'softer' pedal reduces watts and speed but not instantly and not by much. But with the Kickr as soon as I soft pedal the watts drop instantly (or increase instantly if I put power on) and the speed follows. Drafting is going to be something to practice.

I was hoping I could hang on for a minute or two to get a free ride up to Bob, but the extra effort was putting me in the red. I oculd see Bridgy and @AAAC 76C coming through too so figured you'd want to not have me sucking your wheel with those on the chase!

And thanks for the little draft Aaac, I did try to get a little free help but it didn't last too long .... maybe next time :okay:

Re drafting i reckon, even if it works for non bkool trainers, it will be really difficult to get right. Power changes given the nature of the PM response are instantaneous, rather than gradual and in the absence of the momentum the pro's carry between power changes means it will be nigh on impossible to draft Pro users successfully. Like Whorty with Bill, i was having to push some serious watts to try and stay with LB whereas it should have been easier to tuck in. Perhaps i was too used to Zwift drafting.
I think Andy has done this route on his Kickr and i might challenge that ride and , if i can keep up, try and draft and see what happens.

Agreed.
Have you had a chance to tuck in behind someone and get the benefit of the draft on the kickr?

Tsunami out in the deep ocean displace maybe a few cm of water but when hit the coast rise up to several feet to tens of feet. The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami had a 60cm ocean surge but a 10 metre coastal surge >280,000 people died:eek:

OK, careful analysis of the recordings has given me accurate start times for everyone, now I'll do the same for the finishes and will get accurate Moving Times.

Interesting to compare actual Start Times (in minutes and seconds after the warm-up ends) with the allocated Start Times, nearly everyone jumped the gun, some considerably! Prizes to Aleman, Bill and Keith for accuracy, I guess those who went off about 20 seconds early were going against the real time clock.

@bert1971 went a bit early, but to be fair the allocated Start Time was a guess and seems to have been a bit harsh anyway.

@rob01792, @BaldyZ1 and @bobinski didn't have allocated Start Times,

Tommy went 11 minutes early, but was just along for the ride! :becool:

Yes, that seems accurate...I was using my own watch rather than the session watch...I wasn't sure what we hade agreed on, so naturally I chose the clock that would give me a better chance of staying ahead/alive (not taking into account that staying ahead meant more time on my own...as I only caught up when being caught). Not sure what the lesson learnt here is. "Just go faster" perhaps... :o) .

Maybe you should put all the guys that qualify for the nations cup in the same team. We should know the results by Tuesday right?
