NEWSFLASH:

Been talking to the Bkool-English facebook guys and they have taken onboard comments about getting some events organised:

https://www.facebook.com/events/394966704025025/

This Thursday, but at 4pm UK time so I cant make it! They have assured me that this is the first of many though and they will vary the times and days so that more people can have a go.

Message from Bkool-English:
We will be starting a number of weekly events, starting at different times, days of the week and theme (race/time trials/competitions etc). If you can make it for this event, would be great to see you in the simulator - if not, stay tuned and look out for next week's events

Thanks for the warm welcome Rick,

Bkool name is 'Dene', look like I've just missed out on the winter league but I'm keen to join in with the mountain goats (Y) I've requested to join the league on Bkool (or at least it think i have), assume this need to be approved by the creator/admin prior to me doing any events?

Can't wait to get stuck in!! GHOGH
If you read back through this thread you'll find some great tips. The best one is to get a "Geoff cable" -a USB extension cable and put the ANT + sensor near the rear wheel. See you on the hills. This week's wasn't too bad until the last 3 miles.

Hows the hand Bill, did it mend ok? I am still off the bike, as my leg is still sore. Nearly there, and dying to get back to it, but also set on being 100% fit before I do.

Oh and did you try those duck eggs?

Hi Adam. I was just thinking about you today and wondering if your leg had recovered yet. I thought probably not as, like me, you're still not back on the turbo or showing up on Strava. Mine could actually turn out to be quite long term and I think the Double Devil was just the final straw after a build up of previous cycling hand injuries from the pounding they get in the 24 hour races. I tried one Goat league ride recently and it just didn't feel good. I realised just how much I rely on my hand grip to get the torque down through the pedals. Not only that but it seemed to aggravate the injured nerves. Next move is to try the tri bars which should help.
As for the duck eggs, they didn't last long. I boiled 2 and fried 4 and they were delicious. Hens eggs will never be the same again. One day I'll get some ducks if I ever move to the country.
Hope to see you back on the bkool soon and hopefully eventually we'll get to race again:smile:.

Well that sucks! That DD has got a lot to answer for doesn't it? I could cycle now if I chose too, and probably without too much discomfort, but I have got it in my head now that I want all aches, pains and niggles to be gone before I loose back in. Besides, Mary's training regime is really intensifying now, and I am needed more in a supporting role at present, which suits me.
My hamstring thing is still there too, so that needs to be seen off as well, but we'll both get there I'm sure.
Will the nerve damage heal, or is that an unknown? Glad the eggs went down well, they really do make a cracking fried egg don't they? I have flipping loads now too, but it's a long way to drive to deliver you a dozen eggs! The eggs in the incubator turned into these.......

Oh Wow.! Those are amazing! They all hatched by the look of it:smile:.
Still fancy doing the DD again next year if I'm able. Definitely be better prepared next time. More padding, more waterproofing, more warmth.
Supporting Mary while she goes out and kicks ass will no doubt keep you busy enough until you're fully fit. Perhaps at this rate Bkool will demote both of us back to Amateur1
I read that the nerve damage is a common problem for cyclists and normal use usually returns in time. Fortunately I'm only affected in minor ways but losing dexterity can be pretty frustrating. Can't really be bothered going to see my doctor as he'll just book me into a specialist for 3 months time. Hopefully by then it'll be healed itself.

And your Doc would surely utter those immortal words, "just rest it! .....NEXT!"

Yes, all hatched except two, which was ok, especially as the Cayuga eggs, the little black chicks, weren't that fresh. They are now happily munching huge amounts of food and making a remarkable amount of mess with their water for such small creatures.

I would love to have another go at the DD too, and you know that you have a place to stay here, whether I do it or not, especially now I know you're not a mad axe murderer and that you weren't grooming me on Cyclechat.

I wouldn't mind a reset to Amateur 1 tbh, I would relish the opportunity to rise through the ranks again.....well hopefully rise. It was depressing listening to Mary whirring away on the BKool last night, when all I could do was look on enviously.

I entered the London Marathon ballot again this year, so in the highly unlikely event that I get a place in that, I might have to carefully consider whether the DD would fit into a training schedule, but I always apply for that, and never get in so not holding our much hope there.

Well you know I'm not an axe murderer and that I wasn't trying to groom you, but can you be sure I'm not a teenage girl on an e-bike ?? :girl: Geoff'll be most disappointed .
