Good luck. Better double check the starting time and location.
I tripple checked this time, and was there in good time to get a proper warmup this time. :okay:
No crash this time either.

Just to let you all know - this thread has been moved to a new dedicated forum for BKool and Other Trainers - so feel free to expand the conversation out into new threads.

A FAQ sticky thread will be coming soon. :okay:

Cheers,
Shaun

Thanks Shaun for doing this for us, it will be great to be able to split some of the chat out into separate threads!

Randy,

Not looking too good I'm afraid. Saw the Stroke Consultant yesterday and he made it quite clear that he thought it would be a risk for me to ever exercise intensively again. Told me I should not let my heart rate ever get above 60-70% of max, which would rule out any gradient above a few percent.

I keep getting visual disturbances that are probably migraines caused by the damage in my visual cortex, but if they go on too long I have to get a scan to make sure I haven't had another bleed.

If the vision settles down and I can go a week or two without a problem I hope to start some gentle cycling, keeping my heart rate below 110 bpm, then slowly working it up over time. I think the best I can hope for is to be able to get out during the summer for some gentle rides.

I'm afraid my Bkool racing days are over ...

Hi Geoff. Thanks for keeping us informed. You have made a wise choice to give up the bkool racing as it obviously wouldn't be very good for you too say the least. More gentle rides outside are a different matter and should help you but the bkool just makes us all push to insane levels. We probably shouldn't be taking ourselves to the point of collapse as some of us do on occasions but that can be hard to resist at times.
All the best with your recovery Geoff and I hope to see you posting up some good rides on Strava once you are ready.

And before you say anything Bobinski. No I am not

Geoff, I'm gutted for you and wish you a successful recovery and you get back onto two wheels albeit at a steady pace. I took a bad fall on the mtb last July, ended up being airlifted and having major surgery - when I woke up I honestly thought I wouldn't be cycling ever again, 8 weeks later I was on the turbo spinning my legs with no resistance and did that for weeks then slowly increased the wattage week by week... My goal was just to be able to get back out & enjoy the cycling.

Geoff I think you need to teach Bkool a thing or two about organising online races, I didn't have the time to get back home so I logged on to watch, they picked a route that was in 2d only ??? I watched it for less than a minute, boring....

Sorry to hear this Geoff, you were so good on the turbo, you can still have some great rides outside though eh...with your mates etc.

That truly is a great loss. I hope you still loiter around the Cyclechat corridors Geoff, your input has been invaluable on many occasions. No harm in a bit of fair weather biking anyways, I am heading that way quietly.

That doesn't sound very nice at all, glad you appear to have gotten completely over it!

The Stroke consultant did remind me to think positive, I can still see, walk and talk. He is of course completely correct, I'm sure he sees lots of stroke victims who are left blind, crippled or worse ... I'm very lucky to have almost no ill effects and I hope it stays that way.

That's crazy, not exactly showing it in its best light!

I'd love to get involved but my Spanish is limited to what I can remember from 1 year's pre O level 40 years ago, basically "Yo no hablo español"

Geoff if you fancy passing on some help on how to expand the bkool world the guys at bkool-English on facebook are really helpful and seem to forward on any ideas for consideration.

Sorry to hear that. I want to thank you for organizing the Chain Gang races...they were as fun as the real thing.
