Bill, I bought mine from Sigmasport and they let me hold on to mine til they got the replacement unit - then I sent the dodgy one back when I received the new one. Try them for that to see what they say.
Thanks Rick. I might try that. Not sure if I should be dealing with wiggle or bkool though. Also, not sure if I can be bothered dealing with bkools customer support again.

Thankyou Bill

Just a thought Hazie, but have you got access to a USB extension cable (at least 2metres long) and a fairly large fan? You'll need the fan for cooling you as there is no forward motion. the USB cable is required to bring the dongle close to your bkool unit as your PC/laptop will be too far from it when it's sitting in front of you.

So is it confirmed that the garmin cadence sensors or any ant + cadence sensor will override what the bkool pro inbuilt cadence sensor is saying. As not sure if I should buy one even if my replacement bkool turns up working, as garmin could be more accurately

Definitely is more accurate. without an external sensor, the trainers only estimating your cadence based on wheel speed/gradient etc - i've never noticed it to be wildly out, but its also never spot on. When I remember to switch the sensor over to the bike on the trainer its 100% accurate... (I use Decathlons ant+ speed/cadence sensor - but only cadence is recorded)

Ive been reading the posts and have already got usb extension and fan ready to use. But if i'm honest, I can't quite picture what you guys mean with regard the usb extension and the ant+ thingy.

Hazie,
Stick the extension in the usb port on the computer and then the dongle in the other end and place it as close to the Bkool trainer as possible. This should stop any signal drop out.

Hi Bkool,
I did send an email to bkool today:

Hi,I bought my bkool pro from wiggle (UK) in October 2014 and since then it has never been able to get a firmware update. I have the same inconsistent cadence problem that others with the old firmware have but I am concerned that my machine will not be able to accept future firmware updates that will be required. I use my bkool a lot and it's been great apart from this inability to update. In 3D mode at the start my guy often looks like his legs are turning twice as fast as everyone else, not that that bothers me too much. What do you suggest to resolve this? Thanks. Bill S

and their response was:

Thanks for your message. When there is any firmware update available, you will receive a notification via Bkool Indoor simulator. Otherwise, your trainer already has the latest firmware version according its specifications.

See you at Bkool,

I just did another check on the firmware version and it is v.3.2.

Hi - just got my trainer and done 2 sessions (1 tonight, 1 last night). Blinkin heck it's hard work for someone who doesn't cycle much and is so unfit LOL

Found you guys and wondered if I can join your group? I'll try to make sessions when I can but I think you have them a bit too early in the evening for me, but hey ho.

A few Q's ...
1.i notice the speed flicks from white to blue, most noticebly when going on negative gradient. Do you know what this means?
2.I think I joined someone's ride tonight but I didn't see any ghosts on the screen. Any ideas why?
3.How do I see how I did on this race against other racers. When the session finished I could see I was 7th (I beat the 2 none starters!!) and I could see other riders like Bill S. but I can't now see how I can get back to see this info. I'd quite like to see how slow I was against everyone else and how much I need to improve

Cheers. Whorty

Daft question really, but......do you have to keep the usb extension with the dongle thingy beside the trainer the entire time your using the trainer or just when starting up, or upgrading or something.....

Quite sensible question really, and yes, its best to keep the dongle close to the unit the whole time.

Hi Whorty. Yes the bkool is hard work. That's what's so good about it:smile:. Of course you can join our groups. We have Cycle Chat Chain Gang and Cycle Chat Mountain Goats. Just request to join these and you will be able to take part in our leagues when we start them a bit later in the year.

Although I don't think I'm much of a goat, unless it's one of those feinting ones!

Got an almost identical reply yesterday from them, yet we know it should be on 3.6. Mine won't update either.
