We saying no tt bikes ? Or anything goes ? I know even the free tt bike is faster on flats than most road bikes - up to you Randy , your rules , I don’t mind whatever you choose

Randy, based on my one and only outing would you be happy for me to start with Rod?

That should be fair.
Can you ask to be my friend?

Just for background I'm more of a retro cyclist knocking around on old (but nice) steel frames with 2x 6 or 7 speeds (short cage RDs) with toeclips. No reason not to go as fast as possible though!

I'm going to try to upgrade my 1988 Klein Pinnacle to a 1x. The problem is the hub is a weird early free hub and the bottom bracket is a custom size. The new Cues group set should work but I may just buy a new wheel rather than mess with the hub. And its a weird rim brake under the chain stays.

I did Bormio To Tirano route today I noticed that more than 72km/h is possible. Max speed today was 78,5km/h. When we did Pico De Las Nieves 72km/h was max speed, probably with everyone.

In trying to find my way around Rouvy I came across a reference in a release note that the 72km/hr limit was removed when braking was introduced. The Pico De Las Nieves route had several anomolies and the lack of avatars, draughting and the max speed harks back to previous versions of Rouvy. I was probably way too busy spinning out to notice, but I don't remember any braking?

When I was younger and even more foolish (also 28lbs heavier) the office bully swaggered over to my desk, grabbed my speedo head and exclaimed "How fast have you been?". There was some consternation that the answer was 50mph! To be fair this was on a heavy hybrid MTB that seemed well suited to seeing what happened when I dropped off Barbury Castle (high above Swindon) without touching the brakes.

For some reason I couldn’t add astonished face. It only let me add “like. “
I do NOT like going even half that fast.

My fastest outdoor speed is 48,5mph (78km/h). I had DeRosa King Xlight those days and it was about 2010ish. I was in a place where was 2 steep slopes 10° and 12°. There was a traffic signs for that, probably meant to trucks.
