Couple of quick questions if I may regarding the leagues.

Mountain goats league. Do all the stages have to be completed by the dates shown, or will it be changed. If not, it doesn't leave a lot of time to get them all in. I'm asking because I'm away for a week or so and want to make sure I will get them completed before it closes.

Top 100 climbs league. What's the end date for this league, as the end date stated is miles away. I'm asking because I'm concentrating on the mountain goats league because the end date on that one is not far away. But don't want to miss out on this one.

They all have to be completed by the 31st of October if I remember right. Assuming one mountain goat ride can be done in one evening, by my reckoning you have plenty time to do all the league rides ^_^

You have my sympathies Bob. After a bit of swapping around in the early days, my good bike is where it belongs and that is on the bkool. I do notice the performance is better than my cheap 9speed aluminium one, and its always a more satisfying experience. Everything works better, carbon fibre frame feels stiffer and that means more power goes to the roller, more gears, better changes and so on.
I find turbo miles are far less wearing to the drive train as there's little or no abrasive substances flying around on the chain. Gears never change as well as they do out on the road for some reason. I did go through a spate of turbo trainer punctures about 6 months ago but apart from bkools own hardware and software problems its been plain sailing ever since and I don't think I'd want to put up with a sub-standard bike on the bkool which is where I put in about 99% of my miles these days. If I did more miles out on the road I'd need another new bike.

Well Bill, I hear you loud and clear and have bitten the bullet and ordered a new cassette to stick on the spare rear wheel for the good bike. Not sure it's good to run my best wheel/tubeless on a turbo So may try a turbo tyre too, cheap at Merlin at the moment. Getting a bit twitchy today not being able to use the turbo:rolleyes:

Feeling a bit similar myself Monte. Knee feels iffy the past 2-3weeks and yesterday the legs just didn't have it at all when I went outdoors. Not sure what to do- whether to rest or concentrate on steady mileage. :sad:0

Steady mileage for me, with a view of doing the odd online race (if feeling ok). Main aim for this winter is to shred some timber.

Hey Paul F and Geoff,

I broke down and bought a Garmin Virb elite. My first video was denied because of excessive vignetting/ too wide field of view. What setting do you two use? Any tips are appreciated.

I found it was best to edit the video using the Virb Edit rather than the Bkool, then use the bkool editor only to correct any sudden gradient changes.

I also found it best to replace the Virb GPS with the one from my Garmin, that way the GPS trace was the complete course even if the video was only a part of the course.

Haven't used it for ages but these are the settings on my Virb at the moment ...

Video
=====

Mode = 1080p
Field of View = Ultra Zoom
Loop = Off
Auto Record = Off
Microphone = On (though off would be fine for Bkool)
Format = PAL

Advanced
========

Lens Correct = On
Stabilizer = On

System
======

GPS = On
Record Light = On
Tones = On
Power Save = On

Follow up: Does my result has to be "approved" somehow?

Hi Borchgrevink. Looks like you did the ride outside of the league. If you don't select the ride from the Leagues tab then it will not be seen by the system as a league ride. I can see your ride though. If you want me to put this ride into the league then do a short incomplete dummy ride of alpe dhuez (from the leagues tab) so I can alter it's time to the full ride you did today.

Thanks Geoff. Perfect. That's exactly what I needed. Now it may be weeks before it quits raining here.
