It's slightly concerning the amount of people that are saying they are feeling sick or light headed after the league rides. Most recommendations are if you feel unwell during excercise then it is advisable to stop. Most of the time out on my bike I haven't had any major problems except the odd bonk when I over did it. As I haven't had the chance to try the trainer properly, is there a danger of pushing too hard trying to compete with people who may be on a different level to oneself?

For me there is a big, big difference between a ride out on the road and on the BKool. On the BKool every ride is a race - as such I end up pushing myself as hard as i can. No way I'm going to stop ... I want to catch/stay ahead of those other ghosts!

On the road though I'm riding more for fun. On the BKool I'm in a room that is warm albeit with a small fan - sweat pours off me.

It's certainly helping me improve my fitness levels :wahhey:

It is important we all self monitor and adjust our training appropriately. And for of those of us of a certain age, or others who are looking to loose significant weight and improve fitness it is sensible to perhaps train with a heart rate monitor and read around how to use it to identify resting heart rate, training zones etc AND when to stop or rest and recover. I think there's a lot to be said for getting an overall fitness test from your GP too.
I know my resting heart rate varies between 47 and 50. If it goes up significantly then I take it easy, perhaps not cycle. I also know I have some strange electrical disconnects with my heart that were identified in a stress ecg/treadmill test a couple of years ago so I try and keep my heart rate below 170 as a precaution. It's an arbitrary figure.
Apart from that I really enjoy turbo training! Especially now with the leagues and the friendly rivalry. I certainly try harder than when on the road but I have to cycle through crappy roads to get out of London into country roads where it's more enjoyable and then it's a different type of ride.
Anyone recall Hill Street Blues?
"Let's be careful out there" can be replaced by " let's be careful on the turbo bkoolers:hugs:"

Bill, I have been practicing on my own mini league, so if you want to get rid of the burden of doing admin stuff on yet another league, then I wouldn't mind take over.

Lars. It's fine by me if you want to help Rob with the Top 100 admin. I'm already main admin of the mountain goats and assistant admin for the chain gang so I'm more than happy to leave some admin duties for you. I'm sure Rob will be happy to make you admin in the group. If you need any tips give me a shout.

Anyone using their bkool trainer with Trainerroad software, something the bkool sim lacks is specific workout modes (great for flat out cycling)... but it's my understanding that it doesn't work very well n Trainerroad software.

I'm considering a second turbo trainer for use at the vacation house. Another kickr is an obvious, but expensive choice. The other obvious choice is a bkool. For the latter, what would be the recommendation from the folks here?

Vacation house...lucky you!....depends how long you plan on spending there I suppose...bkool or tacx vortex I would say but direct drive is different to the above something to consider....I did have a kickr and have bkool 1....the kickr died on me

You should ask LBHIFI he belongs to some kind of trainer of the month club. He must have a very nice wife or she is at the point where she just knows he has trainers and has no idea of the number.

Hi @JLaw can you accept a time of 34.28 for the Moose City Creek Canyon ride please. This is the time I set on the Goat version of this ride.

She's just like any other wife. The big speakers were condemned out of the living room long time ago. She convinced me that they didn't really fit in :B).
I just upgraded my TT bike with a rear disc wheel. When she asked me how much it costed I told her "less than an iPhone" (she has an iPhone:laugh:)

I'll give that a try for Thursday thanks, could it be my pc?
I don't think so. The big difference between 3d and video, is that the video is streamed from Bkool, while the 3d environment is already on your pc, so basically only your position/speed/time needs to be communicated.
