most of us do our best FTP tests climbing Alpe Duez for 30 minutes rather

You can do the iconic hairpins of the Alp d'Huez in 30min!
Takes me closer to 40

Me in front?? I thought you had a big enough lead. Todays effort was to try and stay in 2nd place.

Bill

I think your standing will improve by roughly 33 minutes which will leave 6 minutes, ish, short of LBHIFI.
Not even going to try an work out where I will end up as there are too many folk still showing as 4 stages completed in fornt of me in the the overall.
By missing Stage 1 I lost out on 30 and 32 mins on yourself and LBHIFI respectively.

I think I had 4 minutes -and someting lead before doing the last stage, and Bill beat me by 4 minutes -and something, so I think it will be close. We will have to wait and se when Bkool's nightly update do the calculation.

Blazing saddles, you can do that in 40 minutes? Rick meant attacking the Alpe for more than you could sustain for the whole ride, and bailing out after 30 minutes.

Now I am going to have to try it again to find out!

PS: Chaingang standings updated whislt I was working out where BillS ended up.
Got is wrong but only the gap and not the position.

I would need to improve my ride by 16 mins to move up one more place which is impossible but I may try it again, rested, on Saturday and see if I can best GA Camel's time. Roughly 1:30 sperate us currently.

With 15 seconds between you and Bill are you going to go head to head on Saturday?

Thanks for the motivation BillS as without you I probably would not have beat my PB and your GB Senior 2 record (post edit GB Record, not just Senior 2) which you stole from me by a few seconds!
!
Thank you too AAAC. I was quite motivated not to try and catch up with you. There would have been zero chance of staying with you if I had. More important to me to keep the 2nd place competition behind me and to keep a small reserve in case they were to make a late attempt to catch up.
Looks like I beat your previous attempt because being in a chain gang race makes you go faster. You beat your own time by around 4 mins so I guess a bit of competition works wonders.
And BTW you won the 2015 UK Vet 2 Ascent, beating me by 1.6 miles :cycle:

But your 18km ahead of me in 2015/16!
Idid have about 10 on you in the 2015 standings before I started concentrating on leagues. Before that I was pretty much just climbing.

Also just realised that I have been ignoring my GIRO 2015 standings and will lose out on 37 mins if I don't do stage 6 by the end of tomorrow.
I might just let sleeping dogs lay though as enough is enough and sometimes more is just too much!

Well, that's 2015 done.

First time today had a 'disconnected from Bkool' error. Unplugged USB & then back in, connection re-established. What causes this? Everything else seemed 'business as usual' (apart from, no doubt, Christmas excesses induced 'performance' issues!).

Here's to a successful, and improved level of fitness in 2016 (2015 was my best for years!!!), 60 is the new 40?

Happy New Year one and all.

I'll be letting sleeping dogs lay too as I'm more than happy with my 2nd place. LB can improve his time much easier than I can too.
Probably go and try to better my last mountain goat ride instead. edit (or I would've but its finished now)
2016 New Year resolution: Do more climbing in-between league rides.
