I've been promoted to the dizzy heights of Amateur 4.

It almost makes the pain worthwhile, but did enjoy the battle with CRXAndy and thanks again to Theboxers for the encouragement

Time for a beer, me thinks

The watts were very low today, checked afterwards and bad calibration. However time was within 2 minutes of my usual times on the real thing (I do it quite often). I think that Bkool trainers are on steroids....

I'm fecked too Bob. That last time I shot off, lets call it an ahem... "slingshot" that you appear to have missed out on. Up until that point there was no getting away from you and I was near to giving up. You just seemed to have an answer for every move I made. Then on that last hill before the end the resistance didn't seem quite as high as I would've expected so I cruised in while keeping a very close eye on what you were doing behind me.

A slingshot? I think we were both trying to get the benefit of them;)
I always kill myself chasing you down. I imagined you and bridgy working together to maintain the gap to me and that made me determined to err, bridge the gap^_^, but then you pulled away you bugger! Leaving me no time to recover so I had no choice but to play by your rules^_^. The amazing thing is all of this hard work, attack after attack, had no impact on the gap to LB!

Really enjoyed that tonight, got left in a bit of no mans land as per usual, but slowly managed to reel Runar in for a last few seconds sprint. I think I am getting a little quicker as some of the faster guys are not quite so far in front. I still stand no chance on the goat stages but I like these rolling courses a lot.

And Runar if it makes you feel better, in that final sprint my HR hit 192, just so you know I was trying very hard.

I tried to capture examples of both drafting and descending to see if the watts/speed, etc. showed anything interesting.

It certainly seemed like quite a spread of speeds at the same gradient down the steep hill. I went through the pack trying to show the speed at the same point on the descent.

Hard to see how much difference the drafting made to the power!

I think the "watt resolution" is lower when spectating. Seems like some peaks are getting filtered away, so it's hard to get the real picture.
I don't know if it's a general thing or if it depends on ones weight, but I loose speed on downhills less than about -7%, so I have to work hard on the downhills to maintain highest possible speed.

I enjoyed the Chain gang session tonight but as TurboTommy said with just the two of us for most of the time it felt more like a time trial. It was my 1st live race and apart from the 1st minute when I was with all the other guys I it was on my own or with Tommy, was this down to my connection, which isn't the best, coupled with the kids being on netflicks. Or was something not registered properly.

My time doesn't appear on the results page of the league whereas Tommy's does?

I think it did, but I was keeping an close eye on the time gap. Whenever I saw a decrease, I would attack right back.

Bob, I was actually trying to get you and Bridgy into a good drafting routine but it just never seemed to happen. I thought this was our only chance of catching LB but we'd have needed to draft for a long time to catch him. We needed to ride much more steady and help each other but I think we are maybe too much rivals to do that. Next time, and I'm sure there will be a next time soon enough we should definitely try.
Well done LB, you were just making a lot more power than the rest of us today.

Well done GW for your promotion to AM4. Surely you must be an active level with the performance you're capable of? I don't know how bkool quantifies one level to another. Can anybody shed light?

Thanks to @Geoff for telling me i was on the wrong course at the beginning........i didn't have my glasses on so couldn't see the messages as they were popping up so apologies if you were trying for some time to get me to get on the right course mate:blush:

Great to have a go at a proper ride and the pressure of a bit of competition certainly upped my average speed from my usual 15mph :music:
