I saw it as a "how far can you get up Alpe d'Huez in 30 minutes" challenge. Plenty of cyclechat members have practised that!

I might have to pay my premium sub for a month to watch that!

Geoff

Well I'm not sure they would accept it on those terms but no doubt more than a few will do it anyway.
I doubt bkool will accept it as they ask how often I train on the bkool which hasn't been often lately. I think they're looking for riders who make loads of power and who will win the challenge. We Will see though. Would be a good watch, that's for sure.

Explain about your double devil event (is that the right name?) and where you came in it. They should be well up for organising it.

That's the one. bkool didn't really ask for info like that but maybe if this one's not a goer I might have to give it a mention as well as the 24 hour races.
Anyway, hopefully this'll be a weekly event from now on.

Anyone flying the Cyclechat flag for this evenings race? I wont make it as I'm going to venture outside seeing as its one of our few sunny, warm days here. :sun:

I see Bill had a run at the course the other day (and blitzed it!) so hopefully he'll wipe the floor with them! :cycle:

I'll be there with the Cyclechat Flag. Had a run at it the other day for a reason ;)

For anyone else who's interested its Puerto Torcal tonight at 6pm for the warmup.

Just in from a lovely evening spin (even though I broke another spoke!)

So how'd it go Bill????

Just did the "Daniel Moreno" event and my start problems persists. After reaching 0, it began counting up from -2:00 minutes.
Well, apart from that, I was sure I was going to catch Jacob Skovsgaard (the unofficial danish Bkool champ) this time, but somehow he managed to get his +100 kg up the mountain faster than me:scratch:.
And great ride Bill...I just couldn't catch you but I seemed to settle down 10-20 seconds behind you.

4th place with Lars on my tail the whole way. Got a mega start but couldn't hold on to it for long. Time readout still not right but didn't seem to cause too many problems.

Your start definitely wasn't so good but you caught up easily. I just nailed it in top gear as usual and found myself in first place for a minute or so. I was sure you would pass me early on and when you didn't I thought I might just be able to hold you off. Nearly caught third place guy near the end but just had nothing left by then.

Here's the result from yesterdays race

I just don't get how Jacob was able to finish before the Chain Gang members. I know Geoff mentioned that the watts can be spent in different ways, but this was almost pure uphill. Actually I felt like the 7.17 % avg was an understatement.
He should have been at least 1½ minute behind us.
Well done again guys, great results! :highfive:

I'm assuming that even with a 7.17% average his power was sufficient to overcome the extra gravitational pull of his substantial proportions.:hungry: I wonder what gradient it would have to be to bring him down to your speeds? As a wild guess, over 10% average perhaps?

Just looking at the results again- I don't think I would have cracked the top 10 due to my weight in that one.

No, actually about 3% in theory.

I don't even understand how with your 4.6 watts/kg you didn't beat me with my 4.4 considering we both weigh about the same. I did use my power mainly on the steeper parts and relaxed when it flattened out but I think it may be because of your starting bug. Have you told bkool about it?

I think the difference between us is small enough, that it could be down to you having a more efficient ride, but I would really like to see the algorithm that awarded Jacob with 2 minutes from the basic theory.
