If you join someone else's live session during the warm up, it only counts down all the way if the session owner keeps pedalling right to the end.

As soon as it recognises that the person who started the session has stopped pedalling it switches to a 10 second count down, in the same way it would if you stopped in your own warm up.

This is even if other riders are still pedalling. You have to stop pedalling within the 10 second count down, which is a challenge as it takes some time for the system to detect that you have stopped pedalling. My KICKR used to take up to 30 seconds to spin down to a halt, which is hopeless if the session owner stops the countdown unexpectedly.

Geoff

That all makes sense Geoff. Gives the person who started the session a tremendous amount of power and a potential head start. Perhaps there should be a Bkool etiquette or protocol we should all be encouraged to follow with time penalties or perhaps an animated Bkool 3d spectator who steps out and throws urine over transgressors?

And to echo what Bill and Rick have said, I try much harder on the turbo using Bkool than I ever would on the road.

I have just ridden Roseland in anticpation of my trip.
http://www.bkool.com/bkoolSessionHistory/showSessionSummary/1297345
I found it very tough. Necked a waffle after about 50 mins but think it should have been a gel. Power just drained away.

Its a shame the 3d routes are pretty generic. It certainly didnt look like i remembered. its a lovely route, like the mountains of Wales but seen with the benefit of sunshine. Unfortunately you dont get to see the mountain top sign or any of the markers by the road giving gradient and distance to go. Would be nice. I would also like some cows! when i first rode the route 3 years ago as i came around to the summit near to sunset there were what seemed like hundreds of cows their bells ringing away. It was quite lovely  I might film the route this time. But then you will all see how slow i go and how many stops i take:thumbsdown:

Necked a waffle

Even the Google won't help me on this. I don't have any idea what it means but I'm going to start using it. "Oh yeah, I necked a waffle on my last big ride" no one over here will have any idea what it means either but it sure sounds impressive.
You should try a relaxed easy ride on the summer cup ride you haven't done yet.
And please film the rides if you can. Then the rest of us can enjoy some high altitude cows.

No high altitude cows here, but plenty of lowland cows. They must be more dangerous, since they are accompanied by a warning sign:-)

Tried to chase you down last night on the TDF 18 summer cup LB but after your ghost flew by right at the start, the game was over. Also couldn't quite stay with Pinilla's ghost who was doing his best to try and catch you but also failing. I did beat my previous time by about a minute though so it was worth it. I don't know what I hated the most, the uphill or the downhill, but I did try a little freewheeling on the downhill when my speed went blue and that seemed to work. Need to try and perfect that.

Timed Romain Bardet in todays TDF, on the last "BKool part", and he used about 41 minutes. What an impressive sight that last climb was. 18 hairpins in a very limited space.
But again a clear indication that we should take our Bkool times with a grain of salt.

LB, I think its fair to say I put your downhill speed method to the test last night on La Vuelta and it was a big success. Not only did I go faster on the descent but I was getting a rest as well. That was a massive descent but to better someone by 4mins is significant. This could make a big difference to Cyclechat members in the Bkool Summer Cup .

Hi guys, my bkool pro shipped yesterday (yay!) seems like a nice piece of hardware and software. I have a problem with the resistance though... everything uphil seems WAY too hard. even 3% slopes seem imposible after a few kilometers... I also get abysmal wattage values - 55-75 watt when pedalling quite hard. it does not feel anything like riding outdoors... Do I do something wrong?

I think one is more likely to progress if incorporating intervals in the red zone, and I would definitely do that more often if I knew I could get a rest later, without it having a negative effect on the time. So I think it is a positive discovery.

Btw, I just challenged Pinilla on the Titch Hill, and something is definitely wrong with his attempt. From the start I stayed on his tail, but quite early he suddenly jumped 1- 1½ minute ahead, and I ended up chasing you instead.

On your first point LB, very true about progressing with intervals in the red zone. Improving ones actual performance is of course the ultimate goal.
The online competition is fun too though :cycle:. And Oh boy , is it getting competitive these days:hyper:.

I always knew you guys would reclaim Titch Hill, but I'll be interested to have another go once fully rested and see if I can see the anomaly in Pinilla's ride.
It's rides like this which I'm relying on to progress as they nearly kill me.:heat::sweat::B)

Said it before that Pinilla made a huge jump recently so it MAY be the case that his bkool is reading wrongly and giving him flattering times.

Been trying to take it easier on downhills and it does seem to help.

Hi Venflon, welcome aboard.

No idea what could be wrong with it - If you're used to cycling then what you're saying there doesnt add up. 55-75 watts is extremely low! I for one find it fairly realistic and it should be slightly easier than 'real life' rather than being as hard as you're finding it.

Email Bkool as it certainly sounds like a fault - though hopefully just a software rather than a hardware issue.
