Baldo to be honest its's not much better on the Bkool. On the climbs I gain on bots etc, on flats and downhills I lose massive amounts of time unless I am turning a far bigger gear than I would normally be using, which as you say is exhausting, so I always lose time. Today I did a Bkool ride based on the road ride i did last Sunday/ Normally this would be at an average speed of between 27-29 kph but I couldn't get anywhere near that, largely because I can't get the flat/downhill speeds I would do if riding on the road without churning a far bigger gear than I am comfortable with. Something for Bkool to work on perhaps?
I've never figured out how bkool determines the time between the rider and any ghosts/bots. As a climb progresses it shows me gaining at a clip that I know doesn't match reality, then we crest and they pull away again or slingshot past at some absurd speed.

I see the same overall effect with the estimated time remaining -- as long as I'm riding reasonably strong, on steep climbs the estimated time remaining drops rapidly, then goes bezerk as I transition to something less than a 5% grade. I do better just estimating myself based on what I know about the ride and mileage left :-)

It's a quirk and I just live with it.

Well if there were a criteria to join I think I made it on Little Cottonwood Canyon tonight. It really was quite demoralising seeing the ghosts up front disappearing. Tough ride though and very worthy of the league. Might have to give it another go if I have some spare energy later in the week.
You came in under an hour, which would deserve a "we're not worthy" chant from most of my buddies out here. It's definitely a grind.

At least in the sim we're not smelling the burning brake pads & exhaust from the cars while the sun bakes any exposed skin.

Demoralizing is realizing you're in your smallest gear at 2.5 miles and your HR is just a beat below it's real maximum and you've got to grind up 2 more miles before it lets up a bit and you just got passed by a guy who isn't breathing hard and you realize he's carrying a child up in a trailer and you can just barely see he's got gears to spare as he pulls away. I wonder if they could program a ghost/bot to do that :-) "Dee Moralizer" would be a great name for the woman. No sure a good name for the gent.

But when you get to the top, change into a dry shirt and bask in sun looking at the mountains it's all worth it. I guess that's the downside of the sim.... You hop off the bike and head to the shower without those few minutes of basking in the sun.

Tid the same with my classic in Zwift, downhill speed is limited unless sprinting.

Bill & Rob, I hope you don't mind I copied the group description from the Mountain Goats til to Cyclechat Top 100, so that people know they should join CC.

After yesterday's first tentative ride on my trainer since being injured, I threw caution to the wind today and cycled a whole 10km  I started very gently and pushed a little bit as I went on, mainly pushing with my weaker left leg as the injury is painful down the right side. I managed to average 129w on a very easy flat triathlon course and get to the end my first full distance ride. It was very painful and I couldn't put any pressure on the right leg yet but huge progress.

It leads to a question. My ride gave me a time of 23:28 showing against my session in history but in the rankings for the ride it is showing I did it in 21:48 which matches the average speed they list for the ride. Is the discrepancy that my session was longer with a very short warm up and cool down?

Probably.
If you click on the details button on the ride page, you get separate times for warmup, ride, and cooldown.

For some reason it isn't showing that I have any scheduled rides? Does anyone know why that is?

Also what are the points for? The question mark button on the site doesn't link anywhere..

I'm not sure but they were doing some maintenance on the site a short while ago which may have affected scheduled rides, the points thing I don't know

A good question, and not one that has been formalised . @JLaw set up the group for us slower riders, but as most of us are on the wrong side of the weight scale, so maybe a BMI based guide might be a help? I think I worked out my BMI to be 28+ the other day, so maybe 25+ is a guide for a Moose? Certainly puts the rider in the overweight category

The goats appear to be lightweights who I just don't think enjoy the finer things in life like us Mooses (things like pies, burgers and real ale ) - I hear Goats eat mostly salad and plain chicken :giggle:
I would not say all goats eat salad lol . On saturday i had 2 Kebabs on my dinner brake then came home And put 320 Watt in for the first 30 min of the goat leauge then After it i had 4 bottles of good German Christmas beer with 6.5 pct . And still never manage to get over 63 kg ..

First problem with Bkool software tonight. Half way up Little Cottonwood Canyon and it booted me and asked if I wanted to save session - was doing ok as well. I'll give it another go tomorrow - any moose's want to join in?
