Anyone else have trouble sleeping last night worrying about the hill on today's stage??
Had a chance to go out for a ride with a few guys this morning but thought i'd best save myself for tonight!!
^_^
Try and have an afternoon nap?
It just comes as a bit of shock if you go hell for leather before and after the first bump. Just bear in mind it will take between 20 mins and 24 mins for a goat and longer if you are more of a sprinter/flats rider. I think a banana or whatever takes your fancy for energy 20 mins before the big bump will likely come in handy. Don't do what i did and stick a small open bag of jelly beans in the top of your bibs and expect them to sat there:blush: All over the frigging floor!

No just go for it from the start, see how long you can hold on to 350 watts and then feel the burn!
I am so glad I am at work tonight and do not have to do that again:tongue:. If you are anywhere near me at the start of the hill you will cruise past me, I was done at the end.

Hi mark. Just accepted you into the chaingang there now.

Classic trainer is a good piece of kit. Had one on trial originally and to be honest the pro is a bit quieter and that's the only advantage it had (imho).

Hope you get the watts thing sorted otherwise we don't stand a chance! :notworthy:

Thanks. When I stopped racing in 1995 I was a 1st cat roadman with a 52m 25TT in the days where completion record was 49m. I can take a bit of pain but if wattbike is the standard to judge by I would be doing well to hold 300w for the hour. Despite the stupid watt count thus far, my Bkool rides have been hard - wobbly on dismount, pins and needles in my hands and a very slow warm down. I can take a bit of pain and discomfort but as with all indoor training there isn't anywhere to hide apart from getting out of the saddle to ease your ass & back. looking forward to the virtual world and getting in the mix....maybe tonights chain gang, but my legs are dead from last nights effort.

Lol, don't think Mrs.B will be too impressed with that.! ^_^

Sounds like a plan Guy ....All this talk about take it easy...i'm going full gas from the gun....who's with me??

I'm with you Bonno, and by that I mean trying to sit in your wheeltracks for maximum drafting effect. Apparently Rick's going to be there too and we're taking turns at the front. At least that's the plan, until it isn't ;).

Hi Mark. Out of interest, is your speed proportional to the registered watt output or not? If it is you're going to be doing 40+ on the flat and about 20mph up Alpe d'Huez. If you're in the chain-gang tonight it'll be interesting to watch you.
I don't think I've ever had a proper warmdown of any sort on the turbo as it's been a case of stop pedalling at the first opportunity and collapse on the ground. I don't think I'd last as a non virtual world turbo rider because I lack the self discipline to torture myself without my mind being fooled into enjoying it. What is frightening is how easily my mind is fooled . Have you joined the Mountain Goats yet?

Have a good one tonight everyone - i'm going to sit out of the chain gang through December as i'm working on a few specific's and trying to lose some timber.

I will be watching and sending some encouragement...

Well that took me by surprise! completed my first ever ride, tour of Britain stage 3 and that is some hill at the end! :heat: ii defiantly need a second fan!!
really enjoyed it (once finished), never see any ghosts, is there something else I have to do apart from tick the ghost box in the settings?? I know I would have only seen them for a few miles but would be good to have something to chase:eek:

cheers anyway

Bert, the league would have been initially set up without ghosts so if you just pull the ride from your Leagues tab you'll be on your own. If you went to the league results page and challenged someone you would have their ghost for company and the ghosts of anyone they had challenged. That's the simple way anyway, which is what I tend to do although I think there is a way of selecting a wider range of ghosts which some of the guys here have figured out. Trawl the last ten pages or so and I think you'll find the details of how to do that.

Just a quick question - When I look at the Ranking tab for a particular ride on the Bkool site I see the list of all past participants timings. There is a Group column and I see that most of you have one of this forums Groups listed against your names - be it Chain Gang, Mountain Goats/Mooses or plain Bkool.

What do I need to do to become one of the gang - is there an 'initiation' test I have to complete

Likewise - I'm not tagged to any groups.
