I am still on the upward trend as far as improvement is concerned. But due to my weight I am on max resistance on anything above about 6%. Because of this I am nearly always on 34/32 as it goes above 5%. As much as I want to spin this I just can't, currently, generate the power needed. :bicycle::surrender:

Know your pains REALLY WELL... you can have a great rhythm on a flat'ish section then it s 5% lump and its like someone has put the brakes on, so obvious when riding with other riders and they go past me like i'm stopped.

Thanks for the mentions Rick, Bill and Bonno. I tried to hang with you boys in the first few miles but knew i was in the red so had to back off. Jon bon shot past and i had to let u go too. I dont know why but on the flat and downhill sections i cant get my power anywhere near my FTP yet my HR is into zone 5+ and u boys kept pulling out the time gap. I got u down to maybe 30s at the top of the lump in the midddle of the race but was cooked again on the flat / dowhill bit and your gap opened to over 2 mins by the bottom of the big climb. I knew Bill would hold the gap easy but i was praying that the rest of you would blow up on the hill but alas it wasnt to be. I was surprised jonbon lost so much time as you had closed jn on the others on the climb before.
And rick well done you held the gap on me at 50s for most of the climb even though i was on the rev limiter the whole way up. One last spurt towards the end got me a bit closer.
It was interesting watching Runar pass bill near the end. I might as well have done it on my own. Even strava didnt recognise that i was racing u boys. ;)

Great race.
I was cooked by the climb Al, But I've never been one for the big climbs (or even little ones!) coming from the flatlands of Essex, perhaps i need to borrow Roleur's laptop for the mountain stages ^_^

A couple of questions if anyone can help?

I have set up a couple of courses as favourites for my wife to ride. She likes to ride with the live video view. First time I did it, I set up some ghost bots, but there was an annoying big yellow thing right in front of her view the whole way, which was a bit annoying, and I assumed this was how a ghost bot looks on the live video view? So I set up a new one last night with no ghosts at all, and the same annoying yellow symbol was there - any idea what I need to do to get rid of this?

Also, whenever I've done a ride before, I have the profile along the bottom which gradually goes blue as I progress, so you can see what terrain is coming up. With the rides I've set up for my wife to do, there's instead a row of white bars like a bar chart along the bottom instead of the profile. I can get rid of this with the up/down keys but not get the terrain view that I normally see - again, any idea why?

Many thanks for any advice

I should change my name to Begbie cause who ever came up with that is defenitely SickBoy :banghead: :boxing::B) :surrender:

Rick thanks for the encouragement. I needed it as the legs had gone bang
Wolfie I'm sorry you dropped off, I was begining to close you down and thought I had someone to aim at:bicycle::blink:

Going off to reconsider my actions tonight a la Major Clipton 'madness, madness'

Hope you have recovered from last night's little outing, we must be mad.
Unknown quote - I've seen better days, but I've also seen worse. I woke up with some aches and pains, but I woke up.:banghead:

I usually feel a bit isolated from about 19:11 on a Thursday night as everyone has normally disappeared off into the distance, so It was good to have someone I recognised from this forum around me.

I still had some legs left when my connection dropped with 1.7 miles to go, but I think it would have been quite close, as I noticed you were closing on me.

I've got some plans to improve my network setup, and I can see the big drill coming out to get a direct connection through the wall from my router to my wife's laptop. She's agreed to the loan of the laptop, but I haven't mentioned the hole yet. ;)

I'll aim to get a re-run in over the weekend, and look forward to some more pain and challenges over the rest of the stages.

Cheers, Dave

Well my wife always said I was mad, I have to agree, I did stage 1 of the chaingang again today, attempt 4 this time I managed to get the over 24km just hitting the 7% mark and the app crashed again :banghead:I had just tucked in behind Gary and had pulled a 3 to 3 and a half minute gap to the chasers which I think were Mero and Insominas ghosts.

I can't see any way of solving this as the wifi didn't drop out the app crashed, and when you go back in you have to restart which I'm not doing again like yesterday only to crash again. It's odd because I have done about 6 rides previous to this stage with no issue, though the app has crashed repeatedly when I was just watching some of the league races.

I may have to wait for the new computer to resolve the issue, signal strength throughout the house is virtually the same I may try a run next to the router downstairs just to confirm but I think the iOS app is not as stable as the Tacx one which seems fine.

Neil, I am guessing you are using an iPad. I am using a Mac in the garage wirelessly and it does drop the connection from time to time but usually reconnects or I have to reach over and disconnect the wifi and reconnect which usually solves it.

A few weeks ago I did have a few issues with the app and I uninstalled it and reinstalled (advice from another forum member) which has helped no end.

On the iPad I would also close all apps running in the background (double tap home button and close all the screens that appear)

Apologies if this has already been tried.

Regards

Thanks for the info much appreciated I did close down all other apps to test I will delete and reinstall the app and try one more time, but maybe not today:heat: 85km along that stage I'm sick of looking at it  thanks again actually that's over 91km the first effort I joined back of race and climbed the end hill

Yes the ghosts on video appear as those translucent circles. They must still be on her ride. The different types of rides are time or distance. If you choose time it uses those bars at the bottom but if you've selected the ride using distance you get the profile.

I've just realised I'm not currently on a 34/32, it is a different bike and is a 36/32. I'm still turning it @ above 60 atm so I think I've improved quite a bit ^_^, for me . It still blinking hurts though :B).

I am still working on my spinning, if 90-100 is spinning? I can do 90 on the flat, upto 1.5%, most of the time. I am just lacking any real power for my weight.

Still trying to workout which hurt more this morning, my knees or the part contacting the saddle

I did burn my legs a little too much just before the lump in the middle. However I don't think that had a big impact on the time. Maybe a minute or two.

I will not be trying that one again in the short term :surrender:

See you on the next one

You guys will be glad that the next ride is a pretty flat 10 mile time trial then! :wahhey:

To be honest I think everyone will be glad to see the back of that ride! ^_^ Well done guys for sticking with it the way you did.
