Tacx trainers work better with zwift, I borrowed a friends Neo trainer and compared both trainers on both software. The conclusion I have come too that bkool trainers are very accurate with the bkool software, very realistic and now I only bench mark my times with other bkool users. When I used the bkool trainer on zwift I found riding on the flat to be fairly accurate but on the climbs my garmin would be reading 10-12mph and zwift would be displaying my speeds at 3-4mph and other people were passing me like I was stopped - I am slow up a climb but not slow...

So if the Bkool Pro doesn't work properly on the climbs on Zwift whilst Tacx trainers do, it sounds like it's not just Bkool that struggle to get their software to work the same for different trainers then....? Just making this point as Bkool come in for a lot of (probably justified) criticism on here for this.

While the topic of other software has come up. I tried Virtual Training software on iOS and it's so much more stable than the Bkool app I haven't had any crashes which I was suffering on the Bkool.
The speed on Virtual Training is more accurate I believe, I noticed my watts were about 25-30 less than on Bkool which I think most people have said tends to read higher than a power meter, that's on my Tacx Bushido.

I do think Bkool have the best platform for leagues, their ghosts and 3D options are excellent, but they could learn a lesson or two on functionality from some of the other softwares. One example is its a lot easier to find rides.

Now confirmed that I cant make it this week so I'll have to leave it in your capable hands Bill. thanks muchly! - will you be able to start it next week too? (staff Christmas do!)
No problem Rick. I will start the Chain Gang Race tonight and next Thursday too. Are you going to start it on Saturday as usual?
I think passwords have now been dispensed with as we don't mind some hangers-on joining in.

Yep, its clear from posts at Zwift and Dc rainmaker that lots of trainers that rely on fec ant+ implementations are having problems with the software. Funnily enough i find my bkool pro fine on Zwift. There is nothing strange or erratic about speeds or readings. My rides and times all make sense based on real life experience and also here on bkools software. I have been lucky or I am being delusional, one of the two! Though i should say i stick to the 2 routes and have not tried their new training plans which seem to reveal lots of the problems.

I am guessing (only a guess) that a lot of mine is down to me being a heavier rider and the Zwift calculations/algorithms are not calibrated correctly, as when on the flat my garmin sensor & zwift readings are very similar. Whilst BKOOL has some issues, I am very pleased with my purchase there's no way I would being having such hard workouts in December on the road bike...

I see some big changes in smart trainers & software in the future and looking forward to what new technology is going to bring us...

Interesting to see that Wahoo are promising to add the ANT+ F-EC profile to their firmware any time now (November was the aim), and Garmin are also adding it to the Edge 1000 (it is already in the Edge 520).

I did wonder if this might give better support in bkool, if switched from the KICKR's published interface to the ANT+ F-EC profile that would be the same for a whole range of trainers. Hopefully this could give a more level playing field and also mean less work for Bkool's software engineers.

I understand that it also means anyone with a Garmin 520 or 1000 and an F-EC trainer (such as a Bkool Pro) should be able to re-ride sessions they have recorded outdoors with out any other software. Won't be a much fun as a chaingang ride I'm sure!

Bob and LB, you were killing each other. 400 watt attacks every 30 seconds or so! Chapeau!!!!

Yeah, but did you see that last kick of his?!? I was kind of enjoying it up until then. And then Sean rocketed past. I thought I was going to catch him but misjudged the end thinking I still had another km to go:whistle: mind you I was pretty spent and not sure I could have mounted a challenge.

I completely messed up the start and lost time, went like a mad thing until I got to you and run out of puff, i was happy to stick with you but then you slowly pulled a gap on me but I couldn't respond. I had to pop into the velodrome to cool down, still dripping like wet thing on a wet day.
