Sorry all. I accidentally approved Rick's Chain-gang ride. Sorry Rick. I was going through them, and I thought checking them properly, but it seems my concentration lapsed.
So that puts you in the lead in that stage Rick. Unfortunately there seems to be no way to change it back.
Doubly unfortunately this looks like it will cause you to leap frog over Bob into 3rd place. Sorry Rick & Bob.

Madness. In what state of mind was I in to do this ride after a 2 week break . I did better than I expected, was thinking 2 hours. However I am absolutely billhooks'd xx(.

Too much:mrpig: and , not enough :bicycle:. A lesson that I never learn .

Any way back on the bike .

Thanks to all who have organised and taken part in this. I will be back for more :boxing: and :ninja: this year.

Seconded - not sure why I put myself through this torture:banghead:
I was really struggling for the last 5 miles and would probably have given up if it hadn't been the last stage of this round of races.
I've since had a curry and a couple of beers, so the pain has now gone.
Once again thanks to all who put the time and effort into organising this torture - I'll probably be back for more.
The stage results page has me down for 2 completed attempts on this stage - no way once was hard enough:surrender:

No worries Bill. As always I am grateful to you and Rick and Ryan for all the admin responsibilities. And ta for the encouragement to go after Lb today. A step to far unfortunately. His leg sounds much worse than my right knee so I cannot even use that as an excuse. Only logged into Bsim and do chapel fell and then spectate:whistle:

Was going to join tonight but messed up timing and premium subscription ran out yesterday.

Just renewed so will ride it tomorrow morning, hopefully Bkool end dates will help and the ride will count towards the league.

No way do I improve my PB by 4 mins one day (which I believe was possible as it was against competition) but you don't beat it again by 4 mins again a couple of days later.

Well just had a good look over my stats for my two atempts at the last Chaingang ride.
In summary I was a lot fresher for the second atempt and did not go hell for leather on the first ascent and also kept the effort down on the first long descent.
There after I didn't properly start laying the power down until the road leveled.
All this meant I had more in the tank to keep the pressure on during the flatter part of the stage and took micro rests at every opportunity as soon as the speed numbers went blue and exceded 50kph (i.e. descents).
As a result my speed graph is a lot flatter and more consistently toward 50kph, something I have not been able to do since I had a couple of weeks rest, without excess, on Holiday in October.
Exceding 50kph over 50km (30mph over 30 miles) is probably not realistic in the real world but then again, technicaly, this course is a descent of some 135m or 1m every 370m

No worries bill. We all know where we stand and I just didn't have an answer for Bobs time on that stage (or most of the others! !)

Thanks for verifying the times though I'd popped on to do that but too late! time to get the new league setup!!!

Any preferences for stages on January's chaingang?

Well at least that makes my seamingly absurd time look less ridiculous and perhaps Sky will be knocking on Rick's door for some support in the Classics this year having lost Bernie Eisel (and what a loss that is).

Rick, are you up to the challenge as you must be wiser in years than Herr Eisel?

Could you put something together that resembles the Classics or is it a bit early in the year and perhaps something based on the Tour Down Under would be more relevant.

Rick, how about suitable courses that people on here have ridden for real / imported from Strava. I've got a few at about 30km flat to rolling.

Have you considered doing the video's in advance in the car? Bkool recommend that they are best recorded using a car, or even better a motorbike, as on a bicycle they can be a little wobbly, as the handlebars move about as you ride.

I fixed my Garmin Virb to the front grill of my car (high up to get it near a cyclists eye level) and it produced much better videos than when on my bike.

The main problem is driving at roughly the same speed as you would cycle, as it can mean you get some reactions from other drivers, especially on long slow climbs! This is why a motorbike is even better, as you can get out of the way easier.

If you drive it too fast, it can look artificial when slowed to the kind of speed you would ride it on Bkool.

Yes, I've seriously pondered that, especially for rides I don't want to do in real life (sand flats road and empire pass due to road conditions that are not good for a road bike and I can go slow in the car without annoying anyone and if I'm in Moab, I'm hitting trail)

Thanks

Thanks JLaw almost can't believe that I am typing that I am looking forward to it.
It'll be fun. And since I'll do each ride before the league goes live there'll be a ghost, even for the first victim.

One ride will even take y'all past the vacation house as you climb up to the summit of the Alpine loop from the south. We'll probably climb up from the west as well. Snowbird Hillclimb route, millcreek, and the climb up to the bobsled run are likely as well. Haven't picked the last ride or two yet. I may see if I can coax a 3d ride out of empire pass by cutting off the final push up guardsman.

Given folks are participating in multiple leagues, I'll probably set it up for 8 wks too give folks lots of time to squeeze it in.

You managed to hold me off with only one leg?!?:notworthy:
Only because I had a 2 min lead . After my problem you were closing fast. On the last hill I was able to keep status quo by standing up and let the weight of my body press the right pedal (with a stretched leg) and pushing normal with my left leg.
