Fell into the same trap a couple of weeks back.
I actually caught it because I was messing about in my profile section just before a Saturday Chaingang as it happens.
I am sure you used to get a reminder.

It's not like they're usually shy to send emails (full of useless stuff every other day) is it?!

It will be fun to ride with all of you from my virtual front door! Don't know about the "blast" though... This is an easy flat ride in which wind is often the main problem. Early on there is a short but painful climb, a 4th category, rising 100m. This will warm things up. The remaining should be good for drafting, whatever that is and if it exists in Bkool. Hope that you enjoy it.
I don't care how long you lived in Oregon or how fluent in English you are, describing this as an easy flat ride with a short climb is wrong. Couldn't you have gone around that mountain?

Hi Bill , I did the first goat stage this afternoon and it seems to have got lost in cyber space . Anyway them steep long climbs of over 15 % nealy broke my little knees . and I don't fancy doing it again . My time was around the 40 min mark ..

Hi Ryan,
Just do a quick dummy ride when you get the chance (and post here when its done) so I have a ride to edit and I'll put down your 40min time to it. Thanks.

To be fair I said that it was short but painful. This morning I did the real thing and really it is nothing compared to what comes later. It gets intense at noon in the middle of summer though....This is really a very hilly area, once you get away of the beach.

I just looked on Google at your 40 mile ride today and it looks like a great place to ride. I can see why you think the climb on the race isn't that bad compared to the mountain you climb at mile 16.
I know what you mean about the wind being worse than the hills. In the Late 80s I lived across the river from Astoria Oregon and used to love to ride down the coast with the wind at your back but hated turning around and riding back north into it.
Thanks again for the route, even though it was a killer.

Going through the Chain gang league stats, it looks like most rides could be categorized as "normal" rides. About 25 % could be categorized as "saw-tooth" rides, and then there are two who completely stands out.
One is "RobAskew", apparently not a league member, who just seem to have done one long 250 watt interval. This must be down to issues with his WattBike i guess.

And then there's AAAC.
AAAC do you bring an engineer's spirit level along with you to ensure an even speed curve ^_^(or should I say line)? That is quite an amazing strategy, in particular as the speed line seems to be drawn at 50 kph :notworthy:.

Being new here, some of the front runners seem leagues ahead in performance. Are you lot seasoned cyclists, ex pro or what?
AAAC just seems off the scale compared to the 2nd placed chap. I have seen his results scattered around bkool, there are very few riders who have posted quicker times in a variety of terrain

My cycling history is I started at 47

Your obviously special!
Perhaps because one lives in Hampshore one is percieved to be well orf and therefore a very valid customer.
Perhaps one dosen't know of Basinstoke

Wtf? perhaps it's too early for me to decipher the sarcasm aimed at Bkool......

Moved to a council estate in Basingstoke when I was four after dad left the RAF, I only remember Malta and Bicester as the bases he worked at.
