Just watched the video and I had to put out about 600 watts to get by, you were going for it at the end it was a good sprint finish.
Bill, I didn't realise how close we were at the end! Your handicap will have to be 5 or 6 seconds longer!

We'll never know unless we give it a try!

Now you mention it, is there not a feature on Bkool whereby you can chat verbally with riders close to you on the road? I guess you'd just need to enable it and turn the speakers up on your computer?

Also, one of the few times I've done some prolonged drafting was with Bill and Rick. I found after a while if I just kept the power steady and stopped actually trying to draft, I would keep shooting ahead, and then naturally slowing as I was in front, and then get overtaken, then speed up as I was in a draft and overtake again...etc etc. So the drafts were often short-lived - but regular - and it still helped. Maybe this is the way to do it in a group rather than expecting it to be more disciplined as it would in real life? Just stick together and keep the power steady and take it as it comes!

(It was quite flat when the above was going on by the way - hills would probably make it much harder!)
Put the speech bit on at your peril. From me what you will hear from my garage will just sound like a fat bloke with asthma and tourettes trying to blow up an air bed (with a hole in it) by mouth. I don't know that this will add much to proceedings.

Cant stop buying new kit / parts. Wife going mad. Any way.

What s the view on shorts v bibs - never had a problem with shorts but need a reason to buy more stuff and never tried bibs. Obviously the aero reason is of no use and I will not be looking in the mirror.

Any comments ?
Bought a pair of bibs over a year ago and never looked back!
Sooooo comfortable. Being bent over in bibs is much more comfortable than in standard shorts. Love them even though they look rediculous

Try the decathlon 520 range with the blue pad. Brill for the price.

You deffo need bibshorts that fit properly - tackle support is essential as is protection of your perenium. There are some really bad shorts out there - my current favorites are etxeondo or probike kit louviers heritage (just ordered another pair this morning - majorca is looming) they punch well above their weight at £40 they are half the price of equivalent shorts like castelli. probike kit have just stopped doing the heritage shorts but the etx's are widely available. Santini are ok and there is always the premium brands like assos/rapha if your pockets are deep enough...certainly really good pro quality shorts. Castelli and sportful are also great quality shorts. You would be better going to a decent shop and trying some on - fit is really important.

Dont forget you need to be commando as well. No point having seams digging in on your sit bones.

I have about 10 pairs in my bike kit box and the porobike kit ones come out first, then the etx's. Have a look at Prendas website or probike kit. Sportpersuit have some northwave/others on at the moment. Ribble is always another good bet.....fit is important though.

Rumour is they use same pad as Rapha etc. All I know is they cup, cosset and protect wonderfully! Wore them in the Alps last year and so so comfy.
When cycling in really hot weather I like the Louie garneau Carbon bibs often reduced at Evans. Very comfy too but cooler than the Passione's which are not really hot.

Are you kidding Guy? You started to pull me in so fast at the end that my cruise to the line had to be modified to an unwelcome sprint.:heat:

There's a guy with Tourette's who cycles through Brixton. I actually thought he was offering me out for a fight one day! He was so abusive. Now when I see him I watch the startled expressions of people he abuses instead^_^

I really rate the two pairs of Assos bibs I have. As well as being super comfy, even after 6 or 7 hours, you get great customer service. I crashed in a pair that I had for two years, ripped the Lycra, sent them off and they were back with me fully repaired in 3 weeks, at no charge at all. I believe Rapha also offer free crash repair but they just don't seem to fit me quite right and if I'm spending that much on a pair they need to fit me very well.

I'll take a look at the louviers.
