I don't like that Rick, Adam and Paul are 2 minutes ahead of us but I do like that Lars is starting with me. There's going to be some serious drafting going on.
@Add & @RickB (if you're finally going to manage to join us in a handicap race?!), looks like we may have to establish our own little drafting group to compete with that.....?

Naaa! You guys are serious racers! You don't want to get involved with this namby pamby drafting malarkey.

I quite fancy running this for the first time next Tuesday, or is everyone on Easter hols?

No times recorded for this stage for Handicap regulars @kapelmuur, @Baldo Mero, @JLaw, @Ste Corny, @Alfie_Gooner and @Rod

I'm sure we can set you off around others of similar level, but if any of you guys, or anyone else who fancies joining in, can set a time (or already have) let me know and I'll factor it in.

I've already mentally set aside one ride a month to run the handicap course, figure I'll get it covered the weekend before.

I tend to agree, which is why I think Stage 1 from this months Chain Gang might be a good one. Your time was 47:19 and AAAC was 33:14, so that fits perfectly.

I'm really looking for a flat finish to encourage a few sprints for the line! :hyper:

Initial handicaps looking something like this...

Geoff, I think I was taking it easy on this one for some reason, and while I'm not fully fit can you put me down at about 15th starter please?

Yet to be decided if it's Gail or myself doing it next week! Drafting group sounds tempting though..:bicycle::bicycle::bicycle:. Team Briadick!

Kip. Looks like you're in the perfect position to figure out who would make your strongest drafting partner, and request a start alongside them.

I like the look of it, hopefully I can get over the humps before the fast guys arrive then draft on the downhill

Good idea - say that you want to start with Bill Kipster, then he'll feel morally obliged to help draft you and not drop you, because you're injured and that would just be mean.....
it'll be more like survival of the fittest, and i'd be shot and put out of my misery and they come past. There are no morals in this clan, the injured are just using up valuable food and oxygen which would be better used elsewhere

I'm going away this weekend to visit family so it doesn't look likei'm going to get a chance to attempt this stage, been a crap month already with niggling injuries which have been caused by Turbo trainer so am having a break from it.

Like Alfie I've found that the turbo causes injury problems (knee in my case), especially when pressing on the pedals in a race situation. I don't experience the same diffficulties when riding on the road.

Also, I only get the turbo out if the weather is wet so I've not been using it during the recent dry spell.

So I'll only be an occasional participant in chain gang/handicap races.

Having said that my ride this morning was cancelled due to rain and I did the the Pico Penas session on the turbo.

I have been fortunate not to cause any further injuries apart from the already incurred ones, some from cycling! I do enjoy the race environment with a degree of excitement, cant wait for Tuesday and Thursday evenings
