Good racing GW, I knew you would be difficult to beat going downhill, and was the case when you took the lead on the first section of descent. Matched my time to within a couple of seconds

Was bkool playing up? My Internet speed was good, I only saw riders in front and no one behind until John joined once I had completed nearly half the course.
It looked fine for me @CXRAndy

When I saw the power you made I was surprised to be ahead still. As you say, it counts where you make the biggest pushes and the slope transitions are where you have to do it. I thought I was weak on the cresting and down-hills because I was trying to get a rest wherever I could and keep the power on up the hills, but seems I get a free downhill advantage from somewhere.
And yeah, I imagine it being a nice little ride if you're not going for it, but when you are it hurts.

Our graphs look very different but one of the main reasons for that is the scale of the axis.
It would be nice to be able to adjust the axis to make better comparisons.
The first thing I would compare is speed as the rest is just a calculation made from that although speed generates resistance (or should do but not always in BSim).
That aside we are operating different Trainer Firmware versions and that can make a huge difference as to how the trainer reacts to change.
Despite what I said I actually had another go against myself and you a few minutes after and my run was very similar but this time I was always just a bit behind myself and you crested the final climb before me and at that point I pretty much gave up and came in 17 seconds behind myself.

You were faster on your recce than I was 'going for it'. Mind you I did do over an hour on zwift before I tried it.

I was rolling around that velodrome with you just before 8. Odd thing was I was hitting 52 kph with only 350 watts.
I think it was because there were folk all around the track so BKool constantly puts you in a draft.

I'm pretty sure you slowed down to give me that sprint finish at the end Bill - "thanks" for that, an extra push at the end was just what I "needed"! It was like one of those nature documentaries when the Killer Whale plays with the limp, dying seal before eating it, just for it's own amusement!

I must admit I did slow a bit for you to catch me near the end, which was a risk but a calculated one. I reckoned that if I were getting a rest while you fought to catch up then I should be in a better position to sprint for the end. I wasn't convinced though after your previous break where you caught me napping a bit and broke away about 20 seconds or so. At that point I thought it was you who had been playing with me.

One direction Gail?! Wasn't that hill in the middle punishment enough?

Good ride all. I'm knackered but in a good way
I've a very weird taste in music, from 1d to Bryan adams , bon jovi to High school musical, anything apart from jazz or opera! mostly influenced by my 16 yr old daughter.

Cheers @CXRAndy, I knew I had to get to the top of the long climb with a 30 second lead to allow for the time I'd lose on those little up hill sections on the way down.

At least I did enough to keep my Amateur 4 ranking after Bkool re-FTP'd me.

Thanks Geoff for all your hard work putting this series together - much appreciated.

It's funny how we all tend to assume the other riders around us are feeling strong and fresh and it's only us who are suffering! I wasn't actually trying to catch you at the end - I had kind of given up hope of seeing you again which is why I was surprised! As for pulling away from you after you first caught me - yeah I remember that, but couldn't tell you how I did that really!

Well done everyone that took part!

Finishes on the road exactly the same as the times corrected for Moving Time plus Start Time (you're all getting very good at starting on your start time)...

Great times for Bridgy and a new record for Bill!

Here they are ordered by the elapsed time!

Great times from you two! Bill, I have no idea how you did it. I not only seemed to be keeping you at bay but at one point actually increased my lead over you and then Bang! You were right behind me and then shooting past. I am sure I did a double take^_^
Bridgy, doesn't look like you need Adds around to compete with and post a cracking time:okay:

I've tweaked the Handicap's if you guys want another run at this route... Chain Gang Handicap Race

Not sure what you want to do the next few weeks, the numbers are falling away as the weather improves.

I had thought we could maybe try a team handicap, group together those close to each other in Handicap, start each group at a suitable start time then you have to work together to avoid being over taken by groups behind while catching the group ahead. Winning group is the one that gets their third or fourth placed rider across the line first. Only problem is that it needs a lot of riders to make it work so is only feasible with 20+ taking part. Might have to wait for next winter?

We could rerun some of the previous Handicaps, or look for a new stage. Only problem with new stages is that the Handicaps don't really get sorted out unless everyone is riding regularly.

Perhaps if you are keen to carry on for a while longer we should re-run the four stages we have done so far?

Let me know what you are thinking...

Damn! I got close to you a couple times Goldwolfie, but just didn't have enough in the tank to actually catch you on either of the climbs. Had I started on-time, we might have been able to draft a bit here and there, saving our legs a bit in the process.

Definitely going to miss next week as I'm on the road.
