I've a very weird taste in music, from 1d to Bryan adams , bon jovi to High school musical, anything apart from jazz or opera! mostly influenced by my 16 yr old daughter.

Yeah to be fair I'm in no position to judge anyone else's tastes in music.

On my iPod I have both jazz and opera. And good and very bad pop music from the last 6 decades inbetween.

I just did the Chaingang session, and really struggled. At the start I put Bridgy's ghost in and noted that Bob was exactly 2 minutes ahead, so if I had the legs, that was the lead I needed over him to beat Bobski.
Well £&@/?€$#% me! You lot left me for dead. The gap just grew and grew, I was in floods of tears as I crossed the line, a mixture of sheer fatigue, abject disappointment and a feeling of complete rejection.
But I've had some chocolate and a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes, so I'm ok now.
But yes, found that really tough, and Bridgy, I had NO hope of getting anywhere near your time.
I have subsequently emailed BKool and asked to be stripped of my Active 10 rating, as it makes me feel very Sepp Blatter.

I've tweaked the Handicap's if you guys want another run at this route... Chain Gang Handicap Race

Not sure what you want to do the next few weeks, the numbers are falling away as the weather improves.

I had thought we could maybe try a team handicap, group together those close to each other in Handicap, start each group at a suitable start time then you have to work together to avoid being over taken by groups behind while catching the group ahead. Winning group is the one that gets their third or fourth placed rider across the line first. Only problem is that it needs a lot of riders to make it work so is only feasible with 20+ taking part. Might have to wait for next winter?

We could rerun some of the previous Handicaps, or look for a new stage. Only problem with new stages is that the Handicaps don't really get sorted out unless everyone is riding regularly.

Perhaps if you are keen to carry on for a while longer we should re-run the four stages we have done so far?

Let me know what you are thinking...

Geoff
I would certainly like to do more, and hopefully in the next few weeks my schedule should ease. I'm so glad I didn't do the handicap tonight, it would have been air ambulance for me, I'm sure of it, and it's a nightmare landing in the field behind us, minced lamb everywhere!

Decided to pedal like a lunatic down the hills today but I only have an effect up to 38 mph over that and I cannot pedal fast enough to get the speed back to white. Problem with this is that if I get my cadence over 120 I get cramp in my right leg. Extremely unpleasant as well as a bit odd.

Having lost about a stone I gleefully reset my weight and subsequently haven't been able to get within 90 seconds of my fastest time. As ever being a bear of little brain I didn't think through the implication of resetting my weight when we were running a predominantly downhill ride.

Adds, I feel your pain. Sometimes whatever our intentions it's just not there. But more importantly did you ask Bkool to let me have your Active 10 rating?

I love the handicap races Geoff - always people to chase, AND people chasing you down at the same time - as I said earlier there's something about that format that makes me dig even deeper and go faster! You're right about the weather and its affect on numbers though - I would probably have gone outside tonight if it hadn't been impossible due to my wife having a meeting at the school.

I think it would be fine to re-visit one of the past handicap races.

As for the team event I think that's a GREAT idea and could be really good fun. If there are enough people interested to do it in the near future I will definitely try and join in - if not it'll be something to look forward to when the Autumn/Winter returns :cold:. DEFINITELY a good idea though .

And I know its been said many times but thanks ever so much again for setting these races up - awesome work :bravo:

As Bob said, we've all been there where you just don't have the energy or the legs one day - sometimes you know why and other times there seems no apparent reason. If it's any consolation I felt a bit like that the first time I did this stage in the live race, then I tried it again a couple of days later and went 2 minutes quicker. Also though for some weird reason, some courses just don't seem to agree with you and you're way off those you normally battle with, and other courses are the opposite - never really worked out what's going on there either!

By the way @Add I did look in as a spectator with the intention of giving you some encouragement, but all the data on the bottom of the screen plus the comments box had padlocks in them and no data/couldn't be used. I guess this is a privacy tick box or something in the settings?

You were right there in the mix with Bill, AAAC and LB for ages, drafting your little socks off, I was very jealous. Apart from a notable lack of big climbs, I really can't say why I found that so tough. But in the same breath, I think you have made a bit of a leap up in performance, I am planning in cycling to Cornwall tomorrow afternoon to see if I can achieve the same benefits....and for a decent pasty and ice cream.

Darn it, it did that to Geoff before, I've no idea why. I will have to have another look, and maybe get someone to see if it has unlocked. Could have done with some encouragement too!

Ha! I would recommend it!

No, not ill at all. Not remotely. Just not enough energy tonight. And spinning at 140 plus on the downhills to hit 70kmh is simply not enough. Actually I blame myself for listening to Steely Dan. Far too chilled^_^

It was the music:whistle:
My average heart rate was 10 less than on previous attempts and I got nowhere near my max. Dam you Steely Dan! ^_^

If I remember correctly, it's difficult to find the setting. I think you have to be in a ride, and select settings from there and there is a tick box about spectators or something.

Of course I could be making this up
