While I wait for my train...
Blue numbers: I noticed my speed on a gradient of 13.5% remained same whether I output 260 or 350watts. That is 11.5kph. All his time I would be in the blue. If I went over 350w then went up to 13.5-14.5 kph and into the White. And then faster still. So do the blues mean I am going faster than bkool thinks I should be or in fact slower?

I guess when it is blue up hill it thinks you are going slower than you should be so it helps you? I lost the ability to see colours due to excessive blood pumping around my head and just focused on staying with you, I did see 450 watts at one point when I was trying to drop you and I have never seen that before.

Well done @AAAC 76C - told you I'd triggered your competitive instincts! Shame you didn't have a few more glasses of wine last night!

The times that have been put up over the last couple of sessions have been quite humbling to say the least.

It does get a bit boring congratulating one big effort after another. Any chance we settle the next race by seeing who can eat a pack of Jaffa cakes the quickest? That's a challenge we can all get on board with!

Or how about we have to eat a packet of Jaffa cakes during the next ride? We could have a whole league where something has to be eaten/drunk/both during the ride.

Sorry AAAC. I got heat exhaustion early on so I surfed the blue all the way up. I thought you'd know that and I hoped I wouldn't put you off as you were obviously really going for it!
I couldn't face riding up there at 250 watts and 5mph so I gamed it and didn't save my ride.

I thought it was a bit odd, there you were dropping back more and more and then I lost concentration with all of the effort and then there you were 20 seconds behind me.
Every time you got close I dropped a few cogs and put a heavy stand up effort in at about 55 RPM to try and crack you but you kept coming back so:
1. I was beginning to regret not saving my ride on Thursday because I was dying
2. The reason I was dying was because I scuppered over a liter of merlot last night and the odd bit of breakfast and then lunch was trying to exit the wrong way so I was also regretting all the merlot last nigh.
My average speed was up a whole 0.6 of a kph from Thursday and every 0.1 hurt like mad and I didn't even get a promotion from it as I need to average over 418 watts to do that.
Had you not been tugging on my spare tub I would probably have relaxed a bit toward the end but instead I had to kill myself.

Well apparently I put in 214% effort this afternoon, the only place we usually see people putting in effort of that level is on the X factor!

Bob, you won't lose your Active7 for 2 months (I think). Then it'll depend on your next ride.

Meant to say, all that talk about running big sprockets with a standard cage I've been running a 52 ring on my compact chain-set with a 34 inside ring and my front changer struggles with the gap sometimes, namely when climbing. There were a couple of stretches in that climb when I wanted to go into the big and pretty much missed the gradients that required it whilst faffing.
I keep meaning to put the 50T back on but I do like having the 52T for the flatter stages.

Last year I really wanted to get a bigger ring on my compact chain set as I was sure I'd get more speed down hill, but now I'm very unconvinced that I'd go any faster with the firmware working as it does.
As for the up hills my 34 front and 11-25 rear seem to be perfect for all gradients on bkool.

My inner sprockets are 24, 27, 30 but the cassette only goes down to 12.
If I remember correctly a have a 10 speed: 12;13;14;15;17;19;21;24;27;30.
Perhaps I should get a 11 up and go: 11;12;13;15......... and ditch the 52T.

Funny thing is it didn't seem to pick up my speed meter tonight so for much of it on my screen was showing me turning over at about 35 rpm even though I was probably pedalling at about 75. You on the other hand seemed to have a cadence of about 120 and I kept wondering how you were keeping it up.
