My inner sprockets are 24, 27, 30 but the cassette only goes down to 12.
If I remember correctly a have a 10 speed: 12;13;14;15;17;19;21;24;27;30.
Perhaps I should get a 11 up and go: 11;12;13;15......... and ditch the 52T.
I always feel faintly inadequate when you guys start getting technical about your bikes. I can identify that mine has gears and that is about as far as it goes.

I take it you do know how to put washer fluid in your car or does your driver do that!

My problem is I know what they're going on about. However I can not attain the performance levels that they achieve with these, for me, ridiculously high gears :cursing::cry::surrender:

Well, for me, I now know bkool lies :cursing:. I have been out, in the real world, on a :bicycle:, for the first time in nearly 30 years, the light it burns .

I have trundled, that is the generous description, around a 26 mile circuit :surrender:. Climbed about 1.5k ft and attempted to ride up slopes up to 14% in about 3 hrs. Anything over 7% is a no-no. I had to resort to walking twice :mrpig::cry:. I do not have the required power to push my not light lump up, some of, the hills where I live

To cap it all i missed 60% of the route with the garmin because I managed to double press the start button :banghead:.

Now back home, sitting quietly thinking about a beer for this afternoon .

One other thing that came out of this morning. I can't control a bicycle . I've been wandering all over the bloody road :cursing:. At times I've scared myself with how bad I was . I need to look at my setup to see if thats making the bike very sensitive to steering inputs .

That first ride out is always so sweet, no matter how painful it might be. The next ride will be better, and so onwards.

Well done and have fun.

I did my first club ride this morning since my collarbone injury, the first thing that struck me was that I had to steer the thing, 100 meters later I had that back in the bag, but it felt weird at first. Then I had to readjust to group riding, and avoiding the big holes that seemed to be everywhere.

35 miles done, with a café stop half way round, nearly 2k ft of climbing and an average of 16.9mph and a few strava PR's. I was struggling in places and my fitness has suffered but no as badly as I feared. It was great to be back on the bike in the outside.

@theboxers what bike do you have?

I was on a GT Grade this morning. I put a steering tube extender on it to help get the spare tyre out of the way. I may have to look at the way I've implemented it and check the alignment is ok .

You don't get these problems on bkool .

Spare tyre? You don't need a spare tyre! Then you can remove the steering tube extender.

I just have a saddle bag with a tube or two, a tyre boot (off cut of old tyre in case of a tyre split, but you can use an empty gel sachet or £10 note), levers, gas, patches. There are also chain links in there and a multi tool. This is probably too much stuff to carry. A lot of the club riders don't bother with a saddle bag and stuff tubes etc.. in the jersey pockets.

I changed the wife's bike setup. It was a shopper which is a beg up (dutch) position set up for flat riding. She wasn't able to get up any hill, without complaint. It now has 2x10 setup with 36/22 chainset and 11-36 cassette. She is a lot happier and has encouraged her to get fitter and now goes up 15% inclines

I got my wife a new bike, she had a step through town bike, bloody heavy. Now has a hybrid with 48/32 and 11-32. She's been up 10% climbs ok, haven't tried anything steeper than that yet. She's been doing some breeze rides, loves them, about 6 or 8 women on the rides, it might be worth seeing if any near you?
