If you don't fancy the climb GW, you could try the 'flat' section leading to the climb. Using my ghost from last night you'll have your ghost and my original ghost too. Now, I was pushing hard on the flatter section but was surprised I was 2 minutes (I think it was as high as 2 20 secs) in front as I reached the base of the climb. It seemed much easier to keep the speed up. If you get the same after the update you'll fly through the first section. Problem is, the hill I struggle to get to 10kph, whereas normally when the gradient goes above 10% it's relatively easier to keep that speed (even easier than when gradient is 8%).I hadn't upgraded my firmware before Thursday night's league ride, and I had to put in 104% of effort on that one to get that time.
I have since upgraded, so it will be interesting to see how I get on the next time I try a decent climb - but it might not be tonight's re-run - as once was probably enough on that one for me.
I think only @bridgy has a ride that is post update. The rest of us managed a prior update time.Does this mean Thursday league results are a little skewed, as some had upgraded firmware before the session?
Correct. I noticed this quite quickly as I started on the hill so I did try to do the burst of speed and see what happened. As soon as power came off, the speed dropped. I think we should consider this a good thing as it stops the unrealistic speed uphill, but it was such a shock to the system when I wasn't expecting itI maybe wrong here, but looking at the recordings, the new firmware has put pay to effective saw-toothing. It looks like the speed plummets much more quickly than before when cadence is reduced. The trailing edge looks to be steeper?
Do it in video view and enjoy the sceneryCorrect. I noticed this quite quickly as I started on the hill so I did try to do the burst of speed and see what happened. Certainly knocks on the head any re-run of Mt Ventoux in the near future - imagine 20.2km at a speed of of 7kph![]()

Sorry Bob, I thought Bridgy got nobbledMine was post update. I am not fussed whether helps or hinders my position. The leveller the playing field the better![]()
Re-run at 5pm. The weather is nice outside but you never know what will happen to you out there. You might suddenly decelerate from 20mph to zero mph in 0.1 of a second.
So take the safe option and do the re-run.
Sorry Bob, I thought Bridgy got nobbledAt least you know what the rest are going to feel at 5 pm tonight
