All my transistions have steep declines. Unless I keep power on high, speed immediately drops off quickly. The Bkool trainers have much smoother slopes and slightly generous speed compared to the kickr. I quite like the new software setting it is very close to real life

Likewise Rob, with TheBoxers instructions and encouragement we had to keep it together, and I wasn't sure if I'd made the right decision to go for it with 0.5 miles to go.
Well that was hard! I tried to chase bill and LB down but needed 450+ watts on the flat to get near them . Once I was tucked in behind bill, LB shot past and Bill gave chase and I was just couldn't catch them again though I did get close.
Did anyone else have problems on the downhills such as they were? I might hit 60kmh by pedalling as hard and fast as I could but if I eased off speed would collapse to at times 25kmhand in seconds.
I rode on auto but will try manual for the rerun.
Bob, I was quite impressed the way you appeared alongside a few minutes after the start. I hadn't been expecting that and I thought perhaps we'd get some drafting in. I also blame LB for speeding off and luring e away from a good sensible drafting session that could have got us a pretty quick time. I thought you'd be on my tail, but probably not so easy because you'd just put in the effort to catch up.
I'm wondering just how much difference my lower (false) weight made to the speed. I guess not much on the flat, a bit slower down hill, but quite a bit faster on the 6 hills. I did seem to have quite an advantage on Lars up the hill, not surprisingly at 56kg, although I didn't suspect anything at the time, but he soon caught me up on the flats. Soon find out on Saturday.

I thought my max was about 175, but i reached 177 during the sprint finish.

I beat you by 10 BPM and also reached my new HR high.I think 187 may be a little bit too high for someone of my age

Bill, If there is one thing the update has improved it might be drafting! I think I managed a good 30-40s with you.
I though my wrongly lowere weight had a huge impact on the downhills in the summer cup, slowing me down dramatically when I eased off the powe.Now, after tonight, I am not so sure. It was much the same albeit on shallower gradients.

Not sure what to think of today.
Minus - Chris Froome did kind of violate tradition by slowing the peloton so his crashed lieutenants cold rejoin the group by pretending to have a bladder stop.
Neutral - I don't think that he would not have got to the bottom of the Ventoux in the GC group though.
Plus - At the end it looked like the Yellow Jersey group of three would have taken more time from the GC group including Quintana
Minus - But young Yates was looking good and may have made inroads.
Plus - It was relatively obvious who had it today and who didn't.
Minus - Perhaps they shouldn't have told the fans about the new finish line and then a good number of them would have been along the cancelled 11km section.
Minus - Froome now needs to win by more than the time he was eventually given today to keep credibility but lets hope he and Ritchie do not suffer in the TT tomorrow on account of any injuries sustained today.
Plus - Lets not forget a brilliant ride by the leading three though and a good win by De Gendt but so nearly another stage win for Dimension Data.
I didn't get to see the intermediate sprint though!

It was a lesson in control by Sky again. Right up until Froome went, see ya.
Yes he may have bent the traditions to allow his guys to get back, but I think all of the other GC contenders would have done the same. We are in the era of big money teams and win at almost any cost is acceptable. The Giro this year with Kruijswijk's crash sort of showed that.
The crowd were a disgrace. More interested in getting on TV than the events unfolding in front of them.
Yates is going to go places if he is given the chance.
The time given back, to me, is not contentious for one reason. Froome did not break his bike. A following motorcycle did. Had his bike been ok he would have, in all probability, finished with Mollema ahead of the rest of the GC contenders. That was the time he got back Mollema's finish time.
Froome looks to have set up home in Quintanas head. This is the most dynamic I have seen him in any tour I've seen of his. He can win on the down hill, almost win on the flat in a sprint (taking time out of the other GC contenders) and would have beaten them on the climb I believe.
It is almost as though this year Chris Froome has set out to show what he can really do. So far it is a scary prospect for the other teams.

The hills have always been chaotic. But the last 3 or 4 years they seem to have gotten worse, the reduction in length of the stage and compression of the fans into the shorter stage did not help.
Any crowd will push the bounderies of acceptability of behaviour
. I think we have just seen the straw that will force a change by the organisers. If not this year, hard to change 12 months worth of plans at 24hrs notice, then possibly next. It is ulimately up to the crowd (I won't call them fans, fans support and encourage participants, not want to get on TV) to control themselves . Events elsewhere
, as wrong as they are, may have little to no effect on the tour ultimately. LeTour is quite heavily policed so there may not be much more they can add for security of a 10 mile long caravan moving at upto 80kph.Anyway back to normal suffering now
