Yup! Now Amateur10  Which is all I'm good for today with the heat in my loft.

Sorry AAAC. I couldn't keep going. I'm amazed at the speed you were going up that hill. Only the bots could do anything about you.
I'll just have to try again next week when it cools down.

I think the bots were yours. Once the 'Master' leaves the race their bots juts fly off to the finish and demoralise anyone left riding. It one of those things that has always happened and is really annoying, not your fault mind its is what it is.
Any way you climbing off and DNF'ing gave me more of a chance to keep one eye on the Olympic road race.
I did 70 km on my turbo today watching it and I beat them all up the final climb, in my head!

If the weather allows it, I'll be taking them outdoors for a spin tomorrow. There's loads of space between my shoe and the pod, and I cut a piece of a MTB tube and pulled it over the pod to protect it:

Ok, tried my BePro's at a Saturday club ride and was riding along with a guy who had the Garmin Vectors. Vi had very similar readings all the time. At a local small hill called "The Bone Breaker" I averaged 556 watt for 40 seconds while the "Garmin guy" averaged 575 watt. He's a little bit heavier and was 1 second faster than me, so that seems like perfect readings. So far so good. I will try them in a real race this Tuesday.

Yeahh, Olympic silver to Fuglsang :wahhey:. Sorry for posting irrelavant info...just couldn't help myself :shy:.

Excellent race to watch. A real shame about all of the injury laden crashes. The result was unexpected but Van Avermaet has been climbing really well. There were times in the TdF when I was really surprised to see him in the leading group.
Today's womens race looked similar and the finale was almost identical however the leading persons crash looked really bad, I hope she is OK.
There was no margin for over cooking on those corners and being catapulted off of your bike was almost a certainty.

I hope she is ok, classic example of not being fully familiar with technical descent. She was carrying so much speed from the previous corner that it was a surprise to arrive so fast to an even sharper bend. She panicked braked, like anyone would do in that situation and managed to go over handlebars at just the wrong moment landing heavily on her back. I winced has it happened and felt she was seriously hurt because she lay motionless as other riders passed by.

There wasn't a lot 'nice' to land on either

Just looked at a replay and she literally landed head first in the gutter with her back rolling into the huge curbstone, not good at all.

Just got home from the 12 hour charity "spinathon" and can confidently say that was the hardest thing I have ever done - including the Double Devil!

I hadn't really clocked it was 12 back to back full-on spinning sessions rather than just 12 hours of spinning at my own pace! :B)

Add to that a bit of brotherly competition to clock up the most miles in the day and you have a recipe for pain!

Thanks again to those who sponsored me - not letting you down kept me going when I thought I couldn't - I now can hardly walk though!

Here's the proof - please add 10,000 to the calories figure, as it went back to zero after 9999!

(P.S. Yes of course I beat my brother! :gun:)

Well done Paul,
I have made a small donation.

It will be interesting to see what impact this epic ride has on your bkooling performance ^_^
