That is a nightmare Boxers! You'll feel better in a day or so and want to do it again so all good as you'll have burned all those extra calories. Hope you get your connection problem solved as you don't want this happening too often.
I've managed to sort the modem issue and the connection was rock solid.

This was a sw issue, I think. The problem is, it is happening a little too often now. I am begining to doubt the nuc that I built. I've already had it open once to reseat the various components. On non league rides I could almost live with it as I have a garmin unit running as backup to log data. But I've now lost 2 completed or almost completed hour+ league sessions and it gets you down .

I'll have another go Saturday I think

Bob.
My Pro started buzzing whilst not being used. It was the stepper motor struggling to get to the park position. Eventually it became so weak that it could not move to the correct postion and give appropriate resistance.

Andy, mine only ever makes that or a similar noise when switching from auto to manual ant+fec. I am hoping that and tonight's experience is not an indicator of the unit failing. I may get bkool to dial in and check the unit when it return.

Yes, a wirring - though not grating- noise as the resistance overloaded and again as I pushed though and it eased off. Very similar to when I move from auto to manual ant+fec and the turbo recalibrates though it has never happened mid ride before. Nor had I reset it before the ride tonight. Seems ok now. I won't be on the turbo for another 10 days and will power it off while away. Hopefully all ok when I return.

Unusual to be experiencing too much resistance without a grating as that would be the conductive disc de-bonding from the flywheel and making contact with the magnets. There is nothing for the magnet carrier to get stuck on going to the other extreme and continue to increase resistance.

Anyway I would hope you turn your turbo off at the plug every time you finish using it even only for fire safety let alone for the electric bill and ecological reasons..

If I am honest I had music on pretty loud so it could have been grating. It only lasted a few seconds.
Actually, I don't largely because it's connected to the same plug point my PC/server is connected to in the loft. I will from now on.

Boxers if this a Intel NUC pc? I got one a few months ago and it kept locking up after 30 mins or so and behaving oddly. I researched on Intel forums and it is usually down to the bios being poorly written. I upgraded the bios and it's been perfect ever since. Powerful little pc!

Calm ...... Calm...... Calm....... Bob thank you for assistance. I didn't realise you were having issues but the close target you provided and the drafting helped immesurably.

Bsim on the other hand :cursing::banghead::boxing::gun::gun::gun::gun::thumbsdown::banghead::cursing::cry::cursing::banghead::banghead:. Right no rude words. 55 'kin' minutes 3 'kin' minutes from the end 'BSIM' has stopped working, close program. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:cry::cry::cry:

I may have managed a sub 1 hour time as well :surrender:.

Of to recover and wind down.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Just google "turbo trainer mat", Halfords and Chain Reaction do one for under £10

Seconds thoughts don't go for those as they look pants, you may have to go up to £35 ish to get a decent one.
Read the specs and if you can find an industrial mat of similar spec but cheaper (but the same size) that would do.
I've ended up cutting mine down just to sit under the footprint of the turbo and I don't move around anymore but then again I do have a perfect Wiggins like smooth as you like riding style (not!)

Thanks @CXRAndy! Is that a 'proper cycling' mat, or somethimng else? Do you have a link? Thank you
You can get thin foam like sleeping bag mats something like this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0...ng+bag+mat&dpPl=1&dpID=31HyTt5ROAL&ref=plSrch

Going to have to miss tomorrow's handicap run due to meetings. I might be able to take a stab at it tonight if Geoff can post the info...

Sorry, I didn't see this post until late last night.

I'll post the details shortly, but as it's our 30th Wedding Anniversary today I expect I'll be unable to start the race!

@BILL S any chance you can take on starting duties?

Thanks,

Geoff

Tonight's Handicap Chase is a special Handicap Climb with adjusted rider weights to equalize Watts/Kg

Session is password protected, password is chase (type h twice if help screen appears)

Course is Rundlestone

The warm-up will start close to 8:00pm BST (UTC+1) to ensure the race starts around 8:10pm BST (UTC+1).

Everyone taking part should adjust their weight to the allocated value before entering the warm up, preferably with at least 5 minutes to go.

Weights are generally reduced, in some cases considerably, to achieve the target Watts/Kg, so speeds should be higher than usual. The main part of the session should not take more than around 20 minutes, and in any case less than 30 minutes, to avoid changing Fitness Levels. Anyone taking longer than 30 minutes would be advised to discard their session without saving.

The Start (for everyone) should be between 8:05 and 8:10, when the warm-up ends.

Once underway, there is a short neutralized zone (0.15 miles or 0.24 km) to avoid taking advantage of the lowered resistance at start, where no-one is allowed to overtake @JLaw (or if he is not present, you must gradually increase speed to a maximum of 20 mph (32 kph) until you pass the 0.15 (0.24 km) point.

If anyone else wants to take part, please can you let us know here and we can work out a weight Handicap from your FTP power value or similar.

I am going to have to drop the handicap league, I am trying to catch up on the summer league before I go away Thursday. Congrats Geoff on your 30th:okay: Me and the good wife celebrated our 25th last week, with a few days in the Cotswolds

The good news is my meeting got cancelled and I ought to be able to join the handicap race. The bad news is since I didn't expect to make the handicap today, I hit the trainer last night and my legs are totally dead. I'll probably slog my way through, but I don't expect to be competitive.
