Damn the August handicap league has closed. I could've taken it by completing all 5 stages, but I left stage 5 and was going to do it tomortow :cursing: :banghead:.

To be fair, no-one did all 5 stages, only @Soarerv8 did stage 5.

What do we want to do this month? Same again until the late nights put paid to evening rides completely?

Well done to Rob, a very hard man to Handicap... :bravo:

I don't have the time currently to do 2 leagues so I've focused on the BKool Summer cup. Trying get my fitness back up there and these rides are a real challenge. If there are handicap rides I'll try to do them but probably not all (sorry). Got some more travelling coming up in Sept and Oct so this is going to restrict me again :cursing:

Apologies for joining late. I was watching the Vuelta and lost track of time and jumped straight into the race.
Thought I was going to catch you using the FW advantage I have and the fact that I had a carrot to chase helped as well.
I didn't save the ride though to keep everything fair and square in the league.
Pity there wasn't a video view to watch but I was visualising the roads as we went down the Nine Mile Ride and along the back of where the AAAC (Arborfield Army Apprentice College) used to be.
In fact if you look at the ride on google earth your see Nufield Road that was the main road in the collegue an you can still see our old parade ground to thesouth of it which was surrounded by 5 wriggly tin spider blocks on the east and another 5 on the west, the cookhouse to the north and a brick three storey block to the south. Then we turned right by the site of the Balleau Baracks used to be and cut across to the road to Wokingham.
Next we turned off to Winnersh where, if we had turned right toward Wokingham, we would have gone by the bike shop (if it was still there) that was run by an Ex-Army Captain who used to run the cycling club in the college. However looking on line it does not appear to be there anymore. His name escapes me now but it was Mike something
We even got to fly through Wokingham as I often did.
That was a really nostalgic ride and I bet it was loaded by Karlsberg who runs/used to run the Tour of Britain League (by the way the real ToB starts tomorrow).

No worries - I was pretty sure you would catch me too - and I used you as a stick rather than a carrot!

It has been quite a task with holidays, anniversary, kids trips to get in the turbo regularly. I have been doing compound body exercises when away from a bike to keep muscles strong.

Much to the disdain of the wife, puffing and panting in hotel bedrooms^_^
