Bloody admins and their need to relax in the evening...

Alright, I will bust a gut for 7 when i can but it is likely to affect my bkool performance so can you lovely admins allow me to reduce my weight a little to even things out:okay:

Starting at 7 is a matter of life or death for me.
8 o'clock starts could result in me starving and the proverbial dog becoming obese.

Well that didn't go well, I thought I would try my first Cyclechat ride tonight, 6.55 when I got logged on, opened the training session, it was the wrong one, it started a 10 minute countdown so I thought I know I will look on the live sessions but the page was blank then it crashed, so I tried logging in again still blank and crashed again, so I loaded the Tacx software ( I have a Tacx neo) and put a Peak District route on, this crashed just as I was starting the ascent of Snake Pass, I tried Bkool again this time the live page was OK so I joined the session at the back just to get a feel for things, looks good but you all look a bit quick.

Bill and LBH were hitting 330/40 Watts together on the flats and equally similar speed. Bob was repeatedly hitting huge numbers in bursts, I thought at first he would catch Scott. There was about 2 to 3 mph difference between Bob and Scott on the flat sections. Bill LBH were about 1mph down on Bob at the same time.

I now remember why I started doing earlier and longer warmups. It bypasses the early evening issues on bkool on thursdays :cursing:. Also my legs don't feel quite as bad as they do now with a longer warmup :surrender:.

I'll try to do the CG ride tomorrow evening, as I plan to do some testing Saturday afternoon :secret:.

Well, I don't know about Bob, but the on/off thing doesn't work for me anymore.

Have a look at my ride LB and see what you think. If I held 300 plus watts I would stay at low 40's kph but raising power would take me to 50 plus kph and I would try and hold, lungs or legs would cry out for a rest and I would drop 2 to 3 gears to try and recover but my recollection is that speed dropped off fairly quick, a matter of seconds before low 40's or even high 30's so I would change up to get the power going agin and begin the cycle. Better people than me will need to look at the figures and say whether the carry of momentum after a high watts burst suggests on/off worked for me. It was a great workout because For 2/3 reds of the race I was trying to chase Scott down and for the rest of it trying to stay far enough ahead so that you and bill could not gang up on and catch me^_^

Well i forgot how hard these races are, the spring/summer of cycling and keeping the weight low didn't quite work out lost the fitness and piled the weight on, but the fitness is coming back slowly.
Did mont vontoux this afternoon and got my active 3 status back so am now where i was in march and with about 5 1/2 rest did the race so i dont think i did to bad over all.

They were long 0% flats, no descent at all

Definitely looks downhill in the session profile.
Saying that I always feel my resistance is higher (hence speed lower) on sub -0.5% descents than on the flat or sub +0.5% ascents.

However according to the stats:
The first flat drops a whole 2m in just over 6km (-0.033%)
The second 1.5 in 2km (-0.075%)
The third 3m in 3.5km (-0.0857%)
The fourth 2m in 2.7 km (-0.074%)
A little short of coasting territory I must admit
I assume the profile has been exaggerated by the fact that there is only about 100m total of climbing.

Great ride Bob. You also made massive watts/kg. About 6.2 I think.

Don't think this is a case of of the old on/off. Didn't that technique result in high speed with lower watts?

I think you and I had the same strategy. I tried to let up every now and then to dull the pain, but I would see you gaining on me and think "he's going to catch me this time..."

I would like to thank you all. I intended on just taking a not-so-tough ride as a warm-up for going outside on my tandem with my daughter. I ended up with quite a grueling workout.
