As Bridgy won't be riding with us on Saturday I may take the liberty of including his ghost in the ride.

No need to strike your time off the results as you haven't actually jumped any places. You have caught up to being quite close behind myself and Bridgy though so in a way it's all good for the racing. I think at the next admin meeting the admins are going to be voting on whether riding Alpe d'Huez the next evening would be a fitting penalty for those failing to correct their weights before chaingang rides. One of the admins (who shall remain nameless ) even suggested that the ride might need to be at a specific time so other members could drop in an hurl insults at the said infringer.

Ahh, so the ride would that time have to be at 7pm?

Hi everyone
As I am a mega Bkool newbie and the system is about as user friendly as a rabies ridden porcupine would anyone be able to tell me how to do the rides that are involved in the leagues? So if I wanted to ride the chaingang route tonight for example how would I find it so that any ride counts in the league?
Cheers in advance
First you need to join the leagues. Check out the FAQ here> https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/bkool-faq.191965/
Post up when you have applied and the admins will approve you.

Then in BSIM you need to open the Leagues tab at the top. In there will be all your scheduled league sessions.

To schedule a league session you need to open the league on Bkools web site via Share/leagues/ and the league you want to schedule an event from (check the valid dates in the stage window). Then click the blue Copy on the stage you want and an event will be scheduled for you (you will be switched to your scheduled list at that time).

Hope that helps. See you on the screen

Now that i've recovered from the last nights race, well I actually recovered with a slab of rocky road, i've analysed why I wasn't as fast as I thought I would be. I have no conclusion. I am certainly fitter than the spring when I last raced on bkool (3.6w/kg v 3.1 w/kg), i've lost weight (75kg v 82kg). I think I went off too fast, HR went up too quickly and I couldn't get it down again (170ish average for the 50 minutes of racing). I had pre race visions of trying to stay with Bill or Bob, but lost ground on them very quickly. A few others steamed passed me on the first bump, but I managed to then reel them in and overtake them. As per earlier in the year, I found myself in no mans land. Those in front pulling away, Goldwolfie and Rob working together and slowly reducing my lead (45 seconds to 35 seconds) over the first long flat section. At each bump i'd eek out a few more seconds.

Then I noticed that Goldwolfie and Rob had split, so I increased the speed to a few minutes to try and make the gap bigger. I thought, they'd have to try really hard to catch me now they have stopped working together. I didn't know what my legs would do when I got to the lumpy bits at the end and wanted a reasonabe gap, in the end I managed to keep Goldwolfie at bay, I think I pulled out another 30 seconds on him by the finish, but had to dig deep to do that. I did learn that I am still no closer to Bill or Bob, not that I had any ambitions to get into team blue!

The weather looks rubbish tomorrow so I may play catch up on stage 2.

Kipster, those are great improvements. fwiw, my experience is best not to go off too fast. I know it is tempting, not least because the really fast guys shoot off and then, having created some distance, they then settle into and get the additional benefit of drafting each other. It can be soul destroying trying to catch them, to get close and have them pull away because of the effort you/I have put in. But perhaps let them go and find someone you can ride and draft with? You then get the same drafting benefits as the lead group and being fresher may find you are able to haul them in. Or at least get closer or finish in a faster time that you might have done racing off at the start.
Yesterdays ride, ridden flat out with no real descents to recover is just the type of ride that is going to tickle your maximum heart rate. Mine was 160 to low 170's.

7PM tonight ?

Bill, you know me, I would, of course, but truth is last nights ride, even at the weight of a young toddler, has taken its toll on my right knee which is frigging sore:sad:

Aside from that i don't think the bkool cyclechat constitution allows one admin to take an executive decision-thank god-so i politely decline in any event :okay:

Sorry Bob, my mistake. I thought you were actually volunteering to do that as a penance. As you know I would never make a decision like that without consulting with the other admins

Good to have you back @kipster, and there was no way I could have hauled you in last night, as I was flat out at my max bpm once I split from Rob - it might have been a better idea to stick together:huh:.

I put everything into it as I won't be around for the rerun, as I'm cycling down to Wolverhampton for the match tomorrow evening, staying over and then cycling back on Sunday - 140 mile round trip and the weather doesn't look great. At least I'll get a decent curry and a few pints of Bank's Bitter.

Jim, I think we'd consider giving you the first week back at a reduced weight to get back up to speed. As you'll be away for a couple of weeks you'll probably come back weighing a good 5kg extra and making 50watts less. Admin will therefore allow you to reduce your weight by 5kg less than you weigh right now as long as you agree to attend every cyclechat league race on the week you return. (Might have to get the mountain goats league fired up especially) ^_^
Have a great holiday.:hungry::cheers::girldance:

Did i hear Goats league now i am excited :wahhey:

A quick reminder to anyone doing cyclechat leagues

It really is worth reading this forum occasionally.

Because......

At the moment we have Runar (one of our quickest riders) in last place for chaingang stage 1 : @ 1 hour 36 mins

Guess how?

Clue: Col de la Madeleine is a very long hard ride.
