Hi, I'm really hoping someone here can help me (sorry if this isn't the right place to ask).

I recently purchased a Bkool Pro trainer but no matter how I set it up it seems to always show the speed drastically lower. I don't mean a few mph lower I mean 10-20 mph lower. I've updated the firmware and moved the sensor as close to the trainer as possible but still see this problem. I even tried using the Zwift software instead of the bkool and still saw the same speeds.

I made a quick video to compare the speeds shown from the bkool trainer to those from my Garmin's speed sensor:

View: https://youtu.be/bRRfuu4W1AU

The retailer I purchased the unit from is refusing to refund it, saying that the bkool unit is not supposed to reflect the real world speed.
Any help or advise would be immensely appreciated.

Bkool may slightly differ from real speeds but they are quite close.

Have you a second speed sensor? try and manually connect only to Bkool trainer only and see what happens

Get in contact with Bkool here http://www.bkool.com/feedback/showContactForm . Put in a short description of the problem and they normally get back to you within a few days.

Phew, that was hard. I lost touch with the fast boys straight away and had to give chase.i had the first of 4 unclippings when sprinting after them but this seemed to spur me on.we got a nice chaingang going though I think I kept stretching it out to much. Sorry. But we were really motoring and I was really enjoying it despite unclipping twice more. I noticed javier was getting closer and feeling strong tried to pull away but Just as he went past I unclipped again. I was out of the saddle and struggled to clip back in and Javier, LB and bridgy were gone. To be honest it was a relief^_^ I was pooped.
I slowed and waited for bill in hope we could draft back to the others but got a second wind and also recognising bill would beat me on the hill decided to try and get some distance. I almost came to a standstill twice and I cannot blame Bkool. I simply ran out of steam.
Well done everyone. It's a hard ride with a nasty end.

Bob, strangely enough I never saw you out there, or Javier. I think I saw you appear at the startline the disappear again. Had I seen you I would have tried to get with you for some drafting but I was struggling after losing Bridgy and Lb at 1/3 in. Legs feeling very jelly like and couldn't get my heart rate up at all. Hopefully make a better go of it on Saturday.

Typical my subscription ran out overnight. Are there any offers around that people know of? Last year they offered me £62 to get me to sign up but it was my first year so may have been a one off

That is strange. We drafted each other for 3-4 mins before I pulled away. That said, what you say makes sense because I kept pulling way and you barely reacted and so I would drop back again. And I pulled away from you on the hill which I found surprising. Now I know why.

Well, you, me LB and AAAC all went a fair bit quicker than my time today when we did it in the league back in May, so there's definitely a good chance you can improve on it with fresher legs. I don't know if the old firmware would have helped back then, particularly on the last hill, but I'm not too comfortable that I'll remain at the top of the stage rankings for long....

I would echo what The Boxers said and get in touch with Bkool themselves - send them your video too. As well as the link TB gave you, you can also email them on info@bkool.com. They will get back to you and try to help - they may be able to recalibrate your trainer or something.

Looking at your video there definitely looks to be something wrong. Just by the sound the trainer is making, I can tell that the garmin speed sensor looks much more likely to be correct rather than what it says on the screen. Hopefully Bkool will resolve it for you - let us know how you get on

P.S. Which retailer did you use? A friend of mine had a Bkool Pro that he thought was inaccurate which he sent back to Wiggle for a full refund without a problem after nearly a year, and the problems his had were nowhere near as extreme as it looks like you have

Hi FR. Your retailer is wrong as the bkool trainer is supposed to be a close reflection of the power and speed of real world riding. We usually find it to be a bit faster and see higher watts but it is still close enough.

Out of interest, How fast can you get the trainer to read on the flat? How many steady watts can you make?
Are you sure the trainer is reading too low and not the garmin reading too high?

I have heard this before but I am not sure where.
BKool Turbos measure speed using 4 rotating magnets on the flywheel which pass a pick-up on the PCB.
If I remember rightly I measured the circumference of the roller on the Turbo and it was exactly 20cm so for every magnet pass you have travelled 5cm.
Therefore if anything is accurate on a BKool turbo it will be the ground speed.
It could be, as someone has intimated that if your are running and independent speed sensor it is broadcasting information to BSim on ANT+ and confusing the SW. Therefore turn off any other speed sensors and see what happens.
If you still get false speeds then get back to the seller and refute his claim as I believe the one accurate thing BSim and a BKool turbo will do is measure speed, unless the numbers are blue of course.

With my garmin edge i find the speed is about 0.5 MPH difference from bkool, with cadence and heart rate exactly the same readings.
If the Bkool unit isn't paired with bsim then this could make a difference.
