They estimate your cadence from pulses in your power delivery, basically power peaks slightly as you push down with each foot then lessens as you move past the bottom before peaking again as you start to push with the other foot.

It's rubbish, and gets it horribly wrong, quite often it shows exactly half the cadence you are actually doing, as I guess it misses one of the pulses.

Get a cheap cadence sensor, the garmin magnet-less one is great, or a dual ANT+/Bluetooth one like the Wahoo RPM.

FYI
My wahoo is not seen by Bkool following the update. I am sur wit will resolve itself at some point. I worried the low cadence taken form the turbo as Geoff suggests, might be having an adverse impact on speed readings but I doubt it does.

Well done all for tackling Ventoux. Some ridiculously impressive times there which I will not be trying to match in my attempt tomorrow. Bob you are becoming a real weapon on the hills these days and you have the w/kg to back it up. AAAC you seem quicker than ever with the new trainer. As for the heavier guys, doubly well done for finishing. Who needs the Mooses when you can take on the Goats?!
I'm ok with the shorter Goats sessions up to about and hour and a half. After that, currently, it gets to be pain and more pain and even more pain. The legs suffer, to be expected, but even more problematical is the sit bones.

I did not have an issue with this saddle when I did a 3+ hour, IRL, ride several months ago. It's down to sitting in the same position for hours on end turbo'in, that you do not do IRL. I would like to see some of the shorter Goats sessions. If only for the sit bones

There is still a need for moose's or mammoth's in my case, if we do the longer Goat sessions :surrender:

That makes sense. My power can jump around a fair bit, going between 290 to 350 between strokes at some point on that ride. Maybe it's a sign that I'm more of a grinder than a spinner and also effecting their guesstimate of my cadence.

I have a cadence sensor but it's the older type and I've never bothered setting it up. You're definately right though. I should get the magnet less one and switch it between bikes a lot more easily.

Thanks Bill. Funnily enough it's the first time in 3 attempts that I have actually finished! And it's also why I am in awe of the heavier guys that just don't give up and keep going! Awesome:notworthy:

Thanks a lot Berty that's very generous but I have one, just don't use it.

If on the other hand you want to come down to London, and teach me how to climb a hill like a man with a rocket strapped to his back, you're more than welcome my friend!

Or leave your original BKool Classic one fitted.
However quite a few power sensors measure cadence the same way and do it a lot better.
Perhaps all of our riding styles are so so smooth it don't work (not) or perhaps we all have fancy funny shaped rings (chain rings Boxers!)

Just buy a magnet from ebay like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-10-25-5...hash=item19fd9e143f:m:mFG0qK29VowtGel5IQJZUIw
Get one just smaller than the diameter of the pedal spindle where it screws into the crank and just stick the magnet on the end. No glue or anything required.
If you get one with a countersunk hole and stick it on countersink against the spindle you can pry it of easily with a small screwdriver.
Mine had been stuck to my pedal spindle for 4 years and has never fallen of.

Fantastic ride AAAC, even though you probably lost a bit waiting for me. Ta for that. I owe my time to you because you made me start harder than I would have done and then I thought I would try and stay within 5 min of you. I nearly did, but the Zwift ride and cramp in my left leg were just too much.
Boxers and TT! Well done both:okay::bravo:

Believe me I lost nothing waiting for you.
I would have been happy using Bridgy as a carrot but you seemed to want to move on so I did. There was one point where I was so knackered with the constant grind uphill I was going to rest a bit and drop back to you as you had almost 2 minutes on Bridgy and then you disappeared so I guessed your knee had gone but then you came back. I had dropped my power to 350/360 in the mean time so I got back in the grove.

My virtual speed was cutting in at about 10.2 percent and seemed to rob me of power every time it cut in.
Does anyone else have views on this?
You certainly can't surf the blue anymore.

Those without a cadence sensor will see their cadence jumping around totally independent to speed so it should not cause an issue.
BSim will work perfectly well without a cadence input.

Yes, I did want to make time on Bridgy after alp d' uez ride but sadly not nearly enough...
I cramped up and had to ease and spin and slowed but once the difference to Bridgy fell to a minute I decided to just press on. I knew I had to hit 340w to stay away from him so kept aiming for 350-380 but didn't know how strongly he had finished and had this nagging away...

I didn't see virtual speed until I hit 20kmh in last 5k but was v v rare and disappeared as my power collapsed!

I cannot recommend La Passione bib shorts highly enough so v v comfortable for me on 100m plus ride and by far the most comfortable bibs for me on the turbo. I forget I have them on.

Thanks Bob ... stubbornness mostly - I will not be beaten by a hill, real or virtual :gun: Legs tired towards the end tonight, but worst part is the soreness of the undercarriage

Couldn't stand up and pedal tonight either - had dripped so much sweat onto the pedals that my shoes were just slipping right off. May have to ask HID for new pedals and cleat shoes for Christmas (I still use an old pair of trainers - LOL). Quite fancy a HRM too .... hope she's been saving up :giggle:

I too was worried that he may have finished so I just kept digging.
Today my legs were my limiting factor and I was able to manage my HR easily. My heart only really kicked as I dug in for the line.

Message received loud and clear Boxers. I'll definitely take this into account when picking the next goat rides. I may also take into account my thoughts while half way up Ventoux tomorrow, and that may be somewhat in your favour.
