Some of you may recall I spent 5 days cycling in Northern France in the summer. The plan was to go to the Cantal mountains, Pyrenes or provence/Ventou but my work colleagues were wary of fitness and ability to ride up mountains. We went with http://www.lavieenvelo.com/index.php which meant bikes transferred in a mini bus along with us. If we had flown to the Cantals etc, Angus would have met us having brought the bikes out.
Anyway, there was tentative interest here when i mentioned the trip and some of you said you just might be interested in a mountain goat trip in the future. So, I am just seeing if anyone might be interested in a 5-6 day trip, last week of june, first 3 weeks of july. I know how difficult it is to juggle money, family, work and holidays, not least one that will take us away from loved ones on what is often seen as a "jolly" when we now it will be relentless suffering and pain medicated occasionally by a little medicinal alcohol...but if anyone interested and likely to be able to go then let me know so i can gauge numbers.

I recall being quite envious at the time!

It sounds amazing Bob. I'm not sure I'd get away with it though at the moment. The missus is struggling with a family illness so I'm not sure it's a very good time to tell her I'm planning a road trip with the boys. In fact it'd go down like a lead balloon thinking about it! When would you want to know roughly bud?

I've just done a ride using the hrm for the first time. TB it worked perfectly and I far prefer it to the chest strap. Thanks again amigo. :okay:

My average bpm was 155 I think. Is that high? I know it's not a straight forward answer.

Also I have a garmin hrm I don't need. I couldn't get it working on bkool but have used it in the real world. Don't know if the battery went or I'm just a plank . Either way does anyone want it? I'm happy to give it to someone who uses that type of strap. At worst you can change the battery right?

Aah, that sounds tricky TT. Hope things improve.

If we go with Angus, and I hope we do, then he needs a group of ideally 5-8. Larger the group the cheaper. But cost is affected by how soon he can book flights. We have 4 possibly 5 in total so far but need to agree which long weekend in late June/ July before handing over dosh. Once we have 5 we can book and then anyone who joins runs risk of flights going up.
Look at his site that I linked to.

HR is a fun old thing, the average will depend on how easy you're taking it. On Bkool I regularly average 170bpm, the highest I've had it is 192 but try to make sure I don't get that high, normally ok with up to 185. Mine tends to run high anyway, but it can be affected by caffeine, colds etc..

I won't get away with going on this ride, I'm going to Mallorca with the club in March next year. Sounds great though and I wish I could make it.

@bridgy - unfortunately due to the technical issues I had on Saturday I need to do the chain gang ride this evening. I would love some company if anyone else needs to complete the ride.
What time are you thinking? I'm happy to ride with you at your pace

BTW, there is another bsim update but only takes a couple of minutes.
I must be having problems getting my leg over in my old age as I keep finding the rear brake has been rubbing the bloody rim :cursing:. No wonder I'm exhausted.

For you both, £595 possibly £695. Depends on numbers, flights etc. Late June or 1st 3 weeks July.

There's also his place in dordogne all inc for a week but it's a stretch for many to take so much time

I was looking to add a Heart Rate monitor to my setup maybe after Christmas. What are you using? The chest strap kind doesn't appeal to me that much but wasn't sure about accuracy of anything else.
