Good ride @Soarerv8. Looking at your stats you can push out a good level of power, I reckon you just need to work on vo2 max to be able to maintain a continual output.
Yeah thanks I think that is it. My legs are ok ish my lungs are the problem. Guess I ought to do some of the vo2 max training sessions in bkool. Something to work on.

I was on the edge of the edge all the way home there but my HR wasn't running away and my breathing was good and steady so I guess everything was working at near max together.
Working as a pair has it's advantages but you can also easily loose you own rhythm in BKool attempting to stay with others.
The more you have in a group the better but just two can be hard work.
At times Bill would draw alongside me and I couldn't really push any more and he didn't seem to want to come through so do you back off and let the other take the lead or not.
When we transitioned I would generally go ahead of Bill but if I backed off too much he would fly past and I would have to go deep to react.
So in summary some of the drafting advantage was lost to working to stay together but I am well pleased with the result,

i struggled more with that than going uphill -very nearly saw my burger and chips again ! plus my ftp had expired so i had folded the green shirt and was all ready to hand it back but luckily it only demoted me down a few places - i don't know why as i was looking forward to the red shirt again ! stunning times and speed from the big boys - i think next time i will bring a note from my mum about being excused

I looked out for your ride Bob earlier in the day. You have lots of ghosts now to draft

I nearly did it this morning Andy but knew I was nowhere near power to make a dent in yours and the other times. Will perhaps try tomorrow or Monday though looking at the times and power-frigging hell:ohmy:

@bobinski I'm probably going to give it a go tomorrow afternoon if you're around? Been out all day so couldn't make it earlier unfortunately - sounds like another good race.

I must admit I'm not that hopeful of beating Thursday's time as I think I gave it my all but looking forward to giving it a go!

I reckon you could have drafted with the faster riders though AAAC. I could have done a 5 minute stint in the front but then I'd be down to 200w after that and with sustainable power it only ever seemed to be enough to pull alongside you. When I did get in front I was too slow for you so you came past almost straight way.
I know you won't be there for the handicap but if I can get to the top of the hill still fresh and still ahead of Andy... But I'm not so hopeful I could stay with him by trying to draft the whole of the downhill. I don't see any other options though.

I won't be able to stay with you bridgy but if we can draft for as long as possible that might help? I have a sore knee from today and on second bottle of wine but...:okay:

Well I've been at the pub followed by beers at home since 3pm so we'll make a good team!

Not yet sure what time I will do it but will let you know when I do - say if there's a time you know you'll be doing it

As it happens Bridgy you and I were on par in the Watts/kg stakes but we lack the potential energy to take us down hill quick and as you are 3 kg down on me in BKool I had the edge today fand had some help from my friend as well.
So sorry Bridgy, I did say one stage one shot but I really goofed on Thursday with the 80 PSI and Bill dragged me home so I wanted to repay the favour today although he may not see it like that when it comes to the handicap.
I also think GB should show some discretion and use Bill's Thursday's ride for the handicap as that was all his effort.

No worries AAAC - you take as many goes as you like! Especially when you're handicapping yourself with tyre pressures!
