well, i can see it may take daddy pig as much as a minute and 10 seconds to catch me so i am going to try and hang onto him for as long as possible and see what happens on the ups rather than the downs. Unlike in zwift if i ease of pedalling on anything over 2% my speed collapses. I am sure everyone has this problem but it is frustrating slowing to speeds of 40km or less on an incline.

If I knew how to customise bkool gear then I could put a giant target on my back!

Ah but this is a Handicap, so you start at the back and it's the early starters that are the targets...

If @bridgy catches you, ALL you have to do is hold onto his draft!
If I get the Handicaps right, you all meet up with the finish in sight!

Yeah, I think he meant the target on his back was for me to chase. If he goes at anything like the pace he did on the last chaingang ride I won't get close enough to even see the target though!

I'm sure you catch me up on the first hill though. If that happens you'll be towing me to the end with any luck!

My money is on a horse named @Whorty tonight he is riding the crest of a performance wave at the moment so starting at the front should make him uncatchable.

Hi. I'm just about to buy a smart trainer, in part to use with Bkool but also to try out other simulators. (Not having a trainer at the moment I can't say which I will end up with, although I like the sound of Bkool.) I've read some of the posts about unlevel playing fields if one uses a trainer other than Bkool Pro with Bkool (and it's the Kickr Snap that I'm thinking about), but on the other hand there are also posts saying that strange things happen even with the Bkool Pro. So, I'm confused about the bottom line. Would using a Kickr Snap with Bkool be a significant issue in practice? I'm interested in exercise, fun and being sociable, as opposed to being serious! Thanks for your thoughts.
I have a Kickr (not the snap). It should work just fine, but you may find you're at an advantage for some ride profiles and a disadvantage on others. However, the most obvious issues have been fixed (slow kickr start, no virtual speed on downhills).

Starting procedure is here...

Chain Gang Handicap Race

I have recorded a short video showing the procedure here

I'll post here when the warmup starts, and again at the end of the warmup, which I will do my best to get as close to 8pm as possible.

To make life easy, I suggest we all take the start times as minutes and seconds past 8pm (synch watches...) unless start is very delayed!

If anyone rides the league session before hand, please finish before 7:50 pm and use a password to avoid sequences of non league members joining and keeping the ride going beyond then!

Password is usually chase I'll post here if any different!

Thanks,

Geoff
And an FYI, make sure you search for handicap, not the name of the course (such as Banff today). The former works, the latter does not and is quite annoying.

Wife is currently using the trainer with my weight reduced to 60Kg ( she's not bothered about saving rides so just uses my profile), so if I do go flying up the hills you'll know I've forgotten to change it back again!

If your main aim is a social ride and some fun (well, kind of fun in a painful way) then I would get whatever kit suits you best and forget about possible losses or gains as for most of us they will be marginal. if you are a tail end charlie like me the challenge is to beat your own best time and not focus too much on others. Come and join the league rides, they are a great incentive to get on the bike. Start with the Goat League, that's our 'beginners ' rides
