I remember being so peeved getting posted to Germany because Guinness did not travel (then) and anyone selling Guinness from the tap there had no idea.
Then I found an Irish Bar in Dusseldorf run by an Irishman and it was heaven. We were only there for a day but luckily he had a B&B/Hotel next door, good man!
Went to hawaii in the 90's and found an 'irish' bar in Waikiki. HID had been to the zoo in the morning and had found a little place to quench our thirst. We both asked for a pint of the black stuff. Half way through some of the locals asked what it tasted like! Apparently only tourists came in and drank guinness - everyone else drank lager  We ended up saying there most of the afternoon and headed to an indian restaurant afterwards (that's a whole other story)

And now you have kids!
As the, then to me, mature barmaid in the Corporals mess in Aldergrove said to me "it puts lead in your pencil".

I'll try out my mavic yksium elite tyre on the back and see if there is any notable difference. Not sure I'll notice much difference though from my high quality halfords turbo tyre...

Odd thing, of all of the Turbo tyres I have tried the £10 Halfords tyre was the quickest IMHO.
And the cheapest!
I have tried most bar the Taxc tyre.

So how does it compare to your current tyre? How much of a difference have you found changing it to a standard road tyre? I need any extra watts going to keep up with you...:bicycle:

Late Friday confession.

Bridgy/DP, you need not 'fear' me so much re. Thursdays run as I did have a bit of BKool magic helping me.
Bill mentioned this was the run that gave big Watts, well for me I was getting speed for low Watts so by the time you guys caught me I had a rest so no surprise I gave you both a tough run from there on in.
Be sure though I was wondering at times if I was the one that was going to be dropped.
It was only after the 3/4 point that I was getting a good feeling that I had the upper hand and therefore put most of my odds into one effort.

I am now running a quite expensive Vittoria Rubino.
I found it quite noisy to start with compared with the Halfords tyre.
However the reason I swapped is because I had a circumferential out of true so I had a 1 per rev lump.
I spent a bit too much money having my wheel trued which made no difference so I tried an 'quality tyre'.
Of the two I would not say there was a real difference apart from cost.
However my best ever tyre was a cyclo-cross tyre but they leave a lot of debris behind the turbo.
If you want an advantage I would look at buying a very expensive cyclo-cross tyre, the knoblier the better!

Tomorrows diary.
Get into town early, Christmas Shop, then Cinema at 13:50 then back home to help Bill and Bob (not Ben) at 17:00.
If DP turns to he can run off all the way home on his tod unless Bridgy turns to.
If that happens I will try and get all of the 'old boys' together to challenge.

PS
You have Watts in abundance, it's now just a case of W/kg and tactics.
My gauntlet is has been thrown!

PS: PS:

Bridgy
Looking at Thursdays stats yours are the most believable and mine the least and DP's are in the middle.
On my part I would say my win was 'false' but not like the false finish just 'false'.

So please don't loose heart, in my mind you are the performance target in Cycle-Chat and I am the out-going Dragoon (buffoon).

Not going to make the Chain Gang rerun...yet another birthday party.
I have been of the bike for almost a week, suffering from a bikers worst nightmare disease: An inexhaustible crave for junk-food while being a lazy bastard.

Seriously though, I have just had an insatiable thirst and hunger, while having headache and being drained for energy, a bit like having a never ending hangover :B).
I may try one of the chaingang stages at noon, but not sure I will be able to put in a 100% effort.

I was back suffering on the bike this morning after 10 days of travel and man flu I switched to using iPad and connecting via Bluetooth and didn't have the timing issues I was previously having with Windows and Ant+. Only remaining problem is I now can't get HRM to pair

@LBHIFI I did see you had steady ride of Tuesday's chaingang. I thought you were doing a Bridgy`s ‘Recce‘ run
Well, yes I was . I was trying to see if I could get through stage two with a 52T in front. Front gear shift is very unreliable with the 52T, so I try to avoid that. Almost didn't make it over that 11%, stuck in a silly heavy gear.
