Is it just my imagination or is most of Team Cyclechat missing from the Winter League results?

Sorry GW i wasn't able to make it, i sense you and i could be similar and maybe help each other out, early Jan - bring it on!
There are 5 or 6 of us that are about the same level. As long as we turn up for a ride you'll normally find someone to ride with. GW was unfortunate last night as the rest of the autobus seemed to have gone to the chippy early :hungry:

As if it's not bad enough that Whorty beat me by 2 1/2 minutes in the last Mountain Goat stage.

Well done Whorty ! I knew you would do it :cycle: :bravo::bravo:
To be fair @BILL S I think it's a false victory as you clearly didn't push very hard on that climb. I'm pleased with my time, but I'm not stupid enough to think i really beat you. If you choose to re-do that ride you'll smash my time.

I had some luck with John18 too in the sprint finish - I knew it was a sprint to the end but his ghost couldn't react so I got the better of him. In a live race I think he would have had me too.

i've only done the first stage yet so i'm in the 200's still. Aiming to do the 2nd stage either today or tomorrow.

Edit : doesn't look like they have updated the league GC calculations recently.

Probably not on the big day. I'm not very mechanical so will need to take the bike and pedals to the bike shop to get them fitted. I bought (sorry, santa bought) pedals that are flat one side and cleats the other. The shoes are specialized and very trainer -like so I might not gain a lot using them but anything must be better than my rotting trainers
One small piece of advice. Wind the pedal clamp tension all the way out. If your cleats are not quite right for your pedal action you will pop out of the pedal and not put stress on you joints. You can then make slight adjustment to the point where it is best for you.

On the plus side you can then easily unclip in an emergency when out on the road DAMHIK .

Additionally, I recently changed my pedals from the shimano (Look stylee) to Boardman SPD which I now think are not offering my feet a 'flat' platform and my feet/knees are 'rolling' a little.

Jim, if you have changed your pedals you will need to review the saddle height. Each pedal/cleat/shoe combination affects the "stack" height and therefore the length of the leg/shoe/cleat/pedal may change, requiring a different seat height. It is quite likely with a change to an SPD pedal/cleat/shoe that you need to raise the height of the saddle a few mm and if you haven't that may well explain a pain in the front of the knees!

Just change a few mm at a time and see if it improves or gets worse. Make sure you can go back to where you started.

Thanks for the email:sad:^_^
Consider it a Christmas greeting delivered the Storm P. way (famous for drawing contraptions, e.g. this one to turn off the light

)

That course suited me well. Lots of long flattish section where I can go into TT mode.
I'll definitely give it another try when the legs are 100 %. Still having problems with the small climbs though. I lost about 15 seconds alone on that little bump about 6 km from the finish.

Cheers uncle Geoff..

I was going to try the Boardman Pro's but I bottled it and bought some good old tried and tested Shimano SPD-SL 550,s, which I had before.

I let them go with my last bike...

I'm going to do a bottom to top set-up with the bike tomorrow and hopefully...... my performances will do the talking..

Merry Christmas all:cheers:

Well after 2 weeks of feeling as rough as a badgers arse I'm going to take a chance and say I'm actually on the mend!

The fact I've been guzzling antibiotics by the fistful means I've guzzled zero alchohol, so in that sense I'm probably in better health than in most years of my adult life, though feeling a little cheated all the same

The new plan is to start putting in the miles on Boxing Day. Hopefully my legs, my lungs and me are all on the same page this time!

Cheers Andy/AAAC..

There have been a small number of changes recently with a new bike which I set up as usual, however I put the drop in performance down to a recent holiday (plus the possible BKool update), performance has slowly improved to pre October levels however the pain in the muscles (above my knees) at 250 watts plus is staggering. Additionally, I recently changed my pedals from the shimano (Look stylee) to Boardman SPD which I now think are not offering my feet a 'flat' platform and my feet/knees are 'rolling' a little.

Thank you for your help and advice chaps and I'll invest some Christmas time into back to basics set-up..

PS. My thighs are very sore today and that's from a trundle on Middlefart..

Merry Christmas yawl..:snowball:

Just listening to CB gives me a PITA let alone using his pedals!
