Just had a massive double leg cramp attack in muscles I didn't know we're in my upper legs.
Ended up on my hands and knees on the living room fire rug in front of the guests in a failed attempt to stand up and walk it off.
I shan't partake in another alcoholic drink tonight, sports drink instead without the slohe gin.

Sorry Bill, I was just looking to burn off the McD fuel the children persuaded me to have for dinner.
I did try to push hard on the climbs a few times and it felt like I was still having the Conti Ultra's on. Standing up pushing hard and getting 250-260 watt, while I was cruising easily at 350 watt on the flat parts.
I have a bad feeling about this course.

I think I'll refit my power pedals to get some reliable power data, but I'll need to get rid of the play/float.

I'm a Look Keo newbie. Is there a way to lock them?

Lars do you want to adjust the tension of the peddle or fix it / loosen it from the crank arm?

I have look keo 2 and the tension can't be adjusted easily I don't think. If you want to fix them to the crank arm it's done from the other side of the crank arm using an allen key at the end of the pedal axle.

@Jim Brown pain front or top of knee is usually seat height too low. Has it slipped down or has this pain just appeared. If nothing has moved 5mm increments higher until your rides are pain free.

I would mark the seat post so you know where you started from.

I put a rubber o ring on mine so you can see where you started
If you use your bike on the road it helps stop water ingress as well.
If going up leave it where it is, if going down move it up the amount you want to move or say 2.5 cm so you still know where you started.
Better to start a bit too low than high though.
Check your fwd knee is over the pedal spindle at 3 o'clock as well.

I was warmed down, stretched off, showered changed, had dinner had a cup of tea, had 500ml of water as well and was half way through a dumpy Stella.
No shouting involved but a bit of under the breath cussing though.

Wife was wondering what I was doing with the short lady from next door though.

Well done GW - it's hard being tail end charlie .... been there many a time so I feel for you. Only way to get through is set your own personal targets and keep that challenge in mind. I'll hopefully have a go on saturday, so may have to use your ghost so i'm less lonely :hugs:
Worked out of town last weekend so haven't been on the bike for a week and over indulged so on Saturday I may not finish until xmas. I keep saying I'll get serious tomorrow but now as the Double Devil isn't that far off and a new year starting I will get serious ....tomorrow.

They have a sideways play like my speedplays, but the play only works when there's no pressure on the pedals, unlike my speedplays wich works like a ball bearing even when sprinting.
This means that my foot is likely to accidently get into a wrong position on the upstroke and then is locked in this wrong position while i put pressure on the downstroke.
I would rather get rid of the "play" and lock then into the right position.

Tony Martin struggled when he moved to Quick Step who didn't use speed plays.
Not sure how he fixed it though.

I'm not sure

Mine have no sideways play in them and I don't think they're supposed to. The pedal spins freely in the axle throughout the whole action does yours not? Float is adjusted by using different cleats which use a colour code depending on their angle.

Are they new pedals Lars?

Bloody good race @berty bassett we did a bit of drafting then you increased the pace to get a way from me, so kept a nice 1 second gap ready for the final push, you kept me working hard and with 2 miles to go i was running on empty.
We both used or strengths and weaknesses against each other, good race
ME increase the pace !! shove off ! i was jiggered and quite happy to me dragged along
heart rate was up 7 beats to normal so i know i was giving it my all but the watts were well down and so was the 0.8 bit - dont know what you call it
not making excuses ( for a change - but knee did twinge ) i had had a gruesome day at work but i can put it down to being well and truely out biked ! well done sir :bravo:

be warned saturday is coming round ^_^

Cheers Andy/AAAC..

There have been a small number of changes recently with a new bike which I set up as usual, however I put the drop in performance down to a recent holiday (plus the possible BKool update), performance has slowly improved to pre October levels however the pain in the muscles (above my knees) at 250 watts plus is staggering. Additionally, I recently changed my pedals from the shimano (Look stylee) to Boardman SPD which I now think are not offering my feet a 'flat' platform and my feet/knees are 'rolling' a little.

Thank you for your help and advice chaps and I'll invest some Christmas time into back to basics set-up..

PS. My thighs are very sore today and that's from a trundle on Middlefart..

Merry Christmas yawl..:snowball:

Probably just me getting confused by play vs. float.
What you describe as "float" is what I want to get rid of, as the Keo's implementation of float is more likely to increase than decrease the chance of knee damage IMO.

Thanks Tommy, just googled Keo cleat color and found out I need the black ones:okay:
