I've toured India .. many times and visited many regions. Whilst you can get a hot curry, they have to be asked for.. most are spicy .. the thing I struggled with on my trips to India wasn't the spices or the curry heat, more the fact that it was spicy breakfast, lunch and dinner... being near the sea offered different flavours and of course in Goa, Mumbai and Kerala you can get beans on toast.. which is nice every now and then..

Whilst I was touring Maharashtra I once stopped to watch a cycle race.... I kid you not.. the road was like an egg carton - so many holes....

Lovely country...

Agreed! Only been once but I'd love to go back. It really is a magical place and the people are incredible. I'm not sure you want to tell your son this but it's the 'Delhi belly' you can't prepare for!

I envy you Jim, only been the once a long time ago and loved it and the people. I have been cooking curries ever since including the family staple of a spicy kedgeree for breakfast on xmas day! The family insist. Curry is pretty much the English national dish now so my son is in fact used to spice but doesn't quite realise it or fact that as you say you have to ask for a really spicy curry.
You just reminded me when I was in Delhi my girlfriend at the time and I used to go to the train station for scrambled egg and toast as a break from spice^_^ Mind you we had been eating curries for 3months!

The mate he is meeting up with in Mumbai has just been in hospital in Delhi with an extreme form of Delhi belly! Cue lots of ribbing from me if what to prepare for. Mrs B has him on probiotics

I read this
My top tip for hot curries is to make sure you have naan bread at hand as this mops up the heat, with milk at hand... water just moves the heat around your mouth! If you want hot, build him up to dorset naga chillies, just don't do what I did and put them in a blitzer... that was rather too hot!
Then saw this.
I've put in a ghost with a finish time of 30:10 to see how we fair.

Great idea Bob. I think AAAC suggested something similar a while back for the same reason.

I'm banned from spending right now though and have the same problem with the cold in my loft so I think I've come up with an old fashioned work around using an old extension lead and some tape. Instead of hitting a remote control button I'll have to reach out and push a plug into a socket on the table next to my laptop. I think reliability will be guaranteed

A Scottish remote solution, well done Bill.
"I'm banned from spending" by me!

Just had a recon of the route and we should be able to put in a good time. I did 1/4 of the route in 7.20 but that was after a 40 km ride and still out of sorts with my legs after Saturdays run (although I can now walk down the stairs unaided!)
My observations are that the peaks are really steep (over 8%) not too long, but long enough to become tiring. There is a big dead stop between the peaks, transition from -10% to +10% so not anything we can do about that.
We need an average speed around 31.5 kph at the top of the second peak first time around to be on target but the important bit is teamwork on the way down to push the speed up. Front man will have to push hard with regular transitions to recover for the next uphill - 4 laps of the same pain!

This course was in the Summer Cup.
With my old, update limited, Pro I could Pro Sling into the first climb and get a good way up it at high speed and then belt into the second climb, Pro sling again, and literally get over the top of the second peak at 40+ kph without pedalling.

Haha! Poor sod...

I'm sure he's going to have a great time. Goes without saying but a good adventure at that age really can have a profound effect.

Did WC 3 tonight on the kickr snap, it is definitely harder than the bkool pro unit, I'm now well out of the running.

I've still got bazzer99's classic so I might have to have another go with that.
