i rode b last night solely because i would have been dqf in c much like Bob was ( and dean would be !)
came absolutely nowhere in ranks but it was nice as the race went on passing a few
done most of it just me and 2 others till one dropped and one took off so on my lonesome
if Jeff came in as well ( he beat my time aswell ) it could have been a team

Ha! I was very pleased with that as you will see from my ride report in the splitters thread. Pleased that endurance held and I had in the last lap almost bridged the 1-30m gap to the lead group. Problem is I now have to race in the B's which is right given my w/kilo but rather worrying.
On the flatter courses where I can hold power and spin fast I'll ride cat b. But on the lumpy rides I think I'd beta c and struggle to place mid table. I'll put myself in b going forward and see how I do. Getting in a group with good drafting definitely helps!

Yesterdays race was more about Watts outright not W/Kg. I understand W/Kg is a good indicator of rider fitness overall, but I think being promoted into cat B when you place mid pack is a little daft, maybe be promoted from top 5 finish. I could of probably done quite well yesterday given its flat course, but cant compete with most of you on climbs

I rode C because I had a rough experience in W7 the night before and wasn't sure how I would feel. But I am comfortable with categories based on Watts/k. My watts were higher because I was trying to drag a group to bridge the lead group but then if we had bridged they would have been higher still. Many who ride in B should really have been in A and as we saw, us lot should really have joined brave Berty!
The main thing is to try and get a team together
and to work as one to place as high as possible.

This makes more sense to me too. Not disqualifying people for riding above a certain w/kg, but promote people on finishing positions. But then these races are stand alone events(?) rather than a series so maybe that wouldn't work.

Zwift will give you your place within the category you race- see my screenshot above. It is the zwiftpower site that draws data from your Strava feed and then applies the watts/k criteria. So given concerns raised here we could, for our purposes, just rely on the race outcome from Zwift.
Won't those likely to go to the dark side all be racing B anyway?

B cat for flat races, yes mostly. For a hilly race course, I will leave it to you <80Kg riders.

Me, Monte, Jeff, dean and lee. Paul was busy setting a new ftp even though he didn't feel great( well done Paul) and Whorty was racing down hill somewhere
So, 5 but could have been 7 or even 8 if Lars had raced rather than watched. I thought Andy was there too but I was mistaken
