Rode NC4 today as I can't make tonight and also remembered I'm away this weekend, so the Saturday re-run is out too.

Rode hard and was wiped out at the end. Time was 1:30:46. I was pleased with that but I'm still way behind some of the leaderboard times from 2016. Some of them look insane!

Good luck tonight chaps!

Do you guys go to work?
That was a lot of posts for a work day.

I left earlier this morning, 07:30 ish having ditched my breakfast after reading @Add 's post and got home at 20:00.
There were a good few pages of posts in that time.

I was spectating the three of you and it looked like you were working well together on the long lead up to the climb. I was interested on how the climb would pan out and like you said, despite gaining a small lead on the others, you were unable to snap the elastic.

The climb did look brutal though. I noticed that Bill had a cadence <40 rpm for a lot of the climb - I'm extra worried for my attempt on Saturday as I haven't got particularly low gearing on at the moment and I'm fearing for the sake of my knees!

Kudos to you all!

Low gearing as in low ratio or low gearing as in not tall i.e the lowest gear in a car is 1st.

it's really hard to judge for those of us who think we have an advantage on the steep climbs as you do definitely do @perswe. I paid today for using up too much energy staying with bill and brusgaard on the bumpy bit before the climb and then couldn't drop them on the climb, was caught just after the top and knew I didn't have enough to stay with them. I noticed you gaining on me at the end, but it spurred me for the last two kms...thx!

Yeah, I tried to sneak up on you...masquerading as someone with with ample power left...but you saw me coming...and then I ran out of power again (or was it that I ran out of power of will...hard to tell). I'm definitely no climber (far to much weight to carry uphill), but as long as it is not above 10% I feel Bkool is not punishing me too much (for which I am grateful). For some reason it's the small bumpy hills and constant up and down that is killing me.

I might do it too. I feel less bitter and twisted about it already.

Edit:- just read your post above, after writing this....I actually burst out laughing in bed, nearly got a slap.

I don't believe your reading posts on your phone over your wife's shoulder!
That does deserve a slap.

No. I don't bother going to work any more! ^_^

Took early retirement in 2014, after years of pressured jobs getting up early and coming home late. Was in the happy position of being able to and decided the time was right.

I've done a bit of contract work since, but no plans to do any more.

And he set a PB with only one leg!
Just that recurring cramp problem to sort and he will be flying even faster in the NC.

Edited to remove gender confusion^_^
Yeah anyone got any tips for the cramp?! Apart from more hydration with electrolytes - and getting fitter!

I think drinking more electrolytes is probably the key - not many places to catch your breath and take a drink on that course! It was very ambitious of you to try and eat a Mars bar Andy - not surprised you nearly choked!

Same plan for me @Del C , early retirement by 55 .... just 7 more years on the corporate treadmill to go! How old was you when you took the plunge?
