I think I read Sky are one of the teams objecting to real time data, including how many puffs Froomey takes on his inhaler

I like seeing the numbers, they tell alot, sometimes when the rider outwardly looks comfortable.

Also seeing that their numbers are normal, attainable, but maybe not sustainable for mere Mamils ^_^

Yes but also don't forget that if his teammates did their work right, a great deal of that time would be at a load level even we could manage.

I’ve heard this before Lars but I have to say I don’t agree. Ecspecially on a very hilly course. The idea that an average amateur rider could perform in a world tour team if he’s delivered to the line is not realistic. And that’s if we’re compairing real world date too. Not real world vs turbo. And not in the middle of a multi day event with day after day racing.

There is nowhere to hide on hilly courses and the peleton shelter will be limited. I would expect a good amateur to be able to hang in the pack for a less demanding terrain. The average power required over the days ride is around 200-220W

You definitely go a bit quicker if you didn’t insist on running with your bike lofted over your head!
Ahhhh that is where I’m going wrong ha ha! ^_^

Will have to leave stage 4 another day or so, attempted to better stage 1 few days ago and cramped towards end. Must have done more damage than first thought, really worth it though - gained 6 seconds  Still, not bad for TT effort as no ghosts to pick lol!

I agree with you Tommy. At the first sight of a hill that would probably be like dropping a stone in the middle of the peleton. All I'm saying is that protected riders spend a great deal of the race time in a very comfortable zone.

Ah ok. Yeah it must be a fantastic feeling too being a part of that.

Comfortable for a Pro rider but hell for any mortal.

I’ll do stage 2 first I think mate. Around 9:30 am. Then if I can get away with it stage 4 straight after, so maybe 10:30 or 10:45. I might not get away with it though if the missus, or my legs, catch on to my cunning plan. Then I’ll swallow my pride and take Bridgy up on his offer to give me a time for stage 4 in-line with if I’d of cruised down the last slope.

If only there was a marker, whatever they call it at the top of the hill, then you could have had my descending time as I did descend with my thumb up my bu# as it was more comfortable than sitting on the saddle.
