Morning all

Randy could you put up the link for the rerun if you get a chance

Morning all, my Garmin HRM is about 6 years old and looks to be done. Swapped batteries and it's still way of my watch and definitely watch is showing correct.

Time for a new one or any magic fixes?

Good luck with the rerun

Cheers Randy - I've accepted the request and I think I'll have plenty of time to take in the scenery.

We found out you can start your warm up whenever you want. The race starts right on the hour and you can be up to speed. Not like the old days when you got stuck at the starting line if you were pedaling.

Hi Shim,

I’ve had a few different ones. I’ve had a polar one that was rechargeable and went around my arm rather than across my chest. It failed quite quickly and the support was poor. Before that I had another arm fixed one that lasted a couple of years. Can’t remember what brand it was but I’ll check. I had a garmin chest strap one that took a hearing aid battery that was ok but didn’t always pair reliably. Now I have a wahoo chest strap. It’s a bit bulky but you don’t feel it when it’s on and it pairs everytime. I think I prefer the hearing aid battery rather than rechargeable battery as they last a lot longer between charges in my experience.

Cheers Tommy, this Garmin has been flawless since I got it so can't complain

I replaced my Garmin after many good years for the same reason. The readings started getting goofy. And like Tommy I then tried 2 different cheap arm band type and they were OK but didn’t last. Now I’m using a wahoo ticker and it works well but has to have good contact.

I think the biggest positive about the rechargeable ones is that you turn them on and they pair straight away. So no danger of getting DQ’d from a race. But the battery charge life wasn’t really good enough for real world riding in my opinion.

This is a newer version of one I had. Really good but I think the battery failed after a couple ywsrs

Does rouvy allow you to pair devices via the app?

Thanks for the ride earlier guys. I was fortunate a few random riders took pity on me and dragged my carcass across Yellowstone…

A bit off topic but are any of you guys paying monthly at this point? Did you know there’s a decent discount available if up to 5 people join together for a group sub. It basically equates to £7.50 per month per person if you sign up for a year (£90 each for the year)

Would any of you guys be interested in that?

Well, I am currently using my €4.99 BKOOL sub. Don’t know how payment works in the shared account scenario.

In the group plan, one person pays for the entire year which equates to £37.50 a month. And he / she can then invite up to 4 other people onto the plan.

If someone has had a rouvy account for over a years it’s possible they have a discount code which will reduce the subscription even further.

Worst case I’m going to get a duel plan with Adam which offers a small discount. But if enough of you guys aren’t on long term contracts, or not on deals as good as yours is at present! It might be worth looking into.

Tommy, I'd be keen to join in with this. I am also on the BKOOL 3 month deal. I imagine that I will be transferred to the standard Rouvy rate when this ends, probably at the end of this month. Actually, I can't see how I would transfer my membership before this, as Rouvy directs me back to Bkool, and they don't give any sub info for me. Can you wait a bit until it is clearer?

Yeah no problem Rod.

It might help if we have a time to get a 5th guy. So far we have 4 guys. Yourself, Adam, Bobinski and me. So hopefully we get one more whilst we see how you sub plays out. For what it’s worth a yearly sub for 1 person if you pay in one lump is £160. But if it’s 4 of us it’s still a good saving at £115.50 per person in the group sub.
