the 'starter ' bike and wheels are a bit slower on the flat and a lot slower uphill compared to some set ups , if you ride against someone with full aero kit downhill then they will also fly away
when you free ride some people change trainer settings or their weight to make it easier for themselves and they fly up the road but you cant in a race
the time gap I cant say ive ever noticed but I do keep an eye on the distance between riders - think that would be better as time can only be estimated going by wkg put out by both parties where as distance is a known
im sure someone with more idea will come along and help soon

All bikes should be equal and any differences for aesthetic purposes only.

I noticed on my Kickr core on the steeper hills the speed and watts dropped . I kept checking the realistic setting and was always 100. h today halfway on my ride I looked at the connection. It made an immediate difference. The connection was called ant with a symbol of an indoor trainer on the back. See my post above.

Should we be using ANT or Bluetooth then?

Thanks both. I did switch to bluetooth recently so I might switch back to Ant+ and check. The time gap thing is a minor thing but is there a setting that you can use to see the distance to the front of the ride as in IndieVelo? I can only see maybe 5 or 6 riders ahead and behind and in the 160 strong bunch ride yesterday I seemed to go from front to 40th or 50th in a matter of seconds probably I suppose due to either connectivity or my current Halfords Apollo (other bikes exist). I should have a proper play about with settings, bike choice, reality setting etc.

I loath comparing rouvy negatively in comparison to zwift as I prefer rouvy in most ways. But I have a feeling zwift is superior in large group rides. Both in the dynamics between the riders but also in zwifts capacity to show many more riders on screen at the same time.

on rouvy I find riders fading out of sight if they’re more than a couple of bike lengths ahead of me at times

Hoping some of the more experienced Rouvy guys can assist with a couple of queries. When I've been riding in bigger groups i seem to get rapidly overtaken when going uphill and then gain places going down or on the flat, i.e., pretty much the opposite of my experience on other platforms to date. Why is that? Is it that with few Rouvy spondies i start on a lousy heavy bike? Maybe it's down to a week of pizza and friggitori in Naples? Is it the reality setting?

I also find the in ride time gaps bear no relation to the result at the end. On the ride earlier today I was 5 mins behind the leader in ride but only 30" or so at the end?

Maybe it’s a bit deceptive?

When I’m climbing up a hill I compare my w/kg with the guys around me. But if they’re not a similar weight or the gradient isn’t steep enough it’s not really an accurate way to make a comparison?

I was surprised there were 2 different ant connections. When I switched to the one on the screenshot it was more realistic without as much sawtooth. More like the Neo was.

I just did Cheddar gorge on both Bkool and Rouvy. Rouvy is way easier but much slower. It acts like the old Bkool trainer. On Bkool have to really put in effort to keep going. On Rouvy it drops watts and slows down.
This caused me great disappointment when I thought I could climb hills and went to Wales for the double devil.

The good news is it isn’t the Kickr but some algorithm in Rouvy.

In a side note @bridgy get those fricken goats off the road. In Bkool they are on the side but on Rouvy are in the road.

Can't make my MyWhoosh Masters league race tomorrow, so will do it tonight instead. That one starts at 8 PM UK, so I would have to do 2 races within an hour - not going to happen!
So I will do the Rouvy one either at the re-run on Saturday or solo.
