Another cold, wet and windy ride but I was conscious of only one more Sunday in Feb so went out for a 50 km. Kit in washer and bike awaiting cleaning. iHopefully I’ll be able to add a 50 miler next week. Definitely one of those rides I’d not have done without the motivation of the challenge!

Well done 💪

I was bordering on the same feelings yesterday. Suspect my day here then: was a lot better than yours today too 😉

Well done that man 👍

We woke up to snow covering that was iced solid so no wheels turning up here☹️

I am probs done for outside for February as on holiday from Friday until March....that should guarantee that Saturday onwards is warm and dry at home 😂😂😂

And...according to the forecast today it's going to be mid teens from Saturday....DOH!!!. Watch out for more snow when we are due back😂

Haven't been out for a ride apart from a couple of wet commutes this month.

I think it's fair to say I'm utterly fed up with winter now! I went out to clean the commuter drivetrain yesterday and nearly sacked that off as it's just too damn cold and wet to even fettle stuff. A choice of fingers being blue, or in thick gloves so no feel or dexterity. Either way it makes me just want to launch the bike into the canal and go inside. Luckily the nearest canal is over 3 miles away!

I've got a few days off work because the kids are on half term. So of course we had ice yesterday and the last 2 days had sleet and snow forecast. "At least" it's only been stupidly cold and wet now, so there's that.

Right sod it, it looks mild but damp with even some sunny intervals Sunday so I'm planning to get out then.

I hear you. And hope you have a great ride Sunday 👌

Rancid, grey, dismal, dank and damp here too. Inclination to ride in that ? Hovering right around Zero 🤣

Glad I’ve got a counting challenge ride in Feb if I’m honest. But still hoping it’s something like decent out; so I can head up the Coast for a change and get another Feb point this weekend. I’m keen to ride. Just not for the sake of it / or if there’s zero enjoyment. That’s where other hobbies come in…….

Managed to get out today. Mild and overcast with a couple of patches of a strange yellow glow in the sky. At one point I felt like the weather was trying to rain, but it managed to have a word with itself! Glad I had the gravel tyres on; many of the normal light gravel paths had turned to mud.

I didn't have chance to plan a 50km route so I used my flat-ish 27 mile loop out on the canal and river through Leeds out to Methley then on the bike paths to Stanley, through the Lofthouse Colliery Nature Reserve and back through Miggy. Planned a detour out to Stanley Ferry to make up the distance but forgot about it so had to add some on at the end.

Bike needs a clean, seat tube and front mech well clarted up. It will have to wait til tomorrow, I'm pooped!

31.9 miles, 51.3 km.

Monthly round up and 1 week to go warning ....

@ColinJ...
My iffy winter continues! I am still recovering from yet another bug and haven't ridden my bike outdoors or used the turbo trainer for over 3 weeks. I am avoiding the scales but I think that I have gained a couple of kg (which might be partly due to fluid retention now that I am taking creatine daily), extra weight that is not welcome!

I must try and get out soon but I don't think that I can wait to feel 100% because that could be some time yet. I will head up towards Burnley on the A646 as far as the junction with the A671 and then turn and head back. That round trip is 23 km. If I don't feel wretched doing that then I will try doing the extra loops to Hebden Bridge and Littleborough to make up my Feb 50.

[I still hope to do my Trawden forum ride next Saturday but it is looking a bit unlikely at the moment since it involves quite a lot of tough climbing.] PS Nope - I have put that back at least a week!

SHOPPING REPORT
This afternoon, for the first time in 3 weeks I managed to power walk to the shops, and back with a rucksack full of supplies without feeling like I needed to stop and rest. My current winter lurgy may be almost done; thank goodness!

I am going to do a very cautious turbo trainer ride this evening and see how that goes. If all is well, I need to get out on the road in the next couple of days to get my Feb '50' in.
